Better to use 1.11 or trade down for multiple picks (1 Viewer)

Without having to post my entire team I am in a full on rebuild.  Year after I won the title my first round pick Calvin Johnson Retired and since then Ive been taking on water.  If I get 5 wins this year ill be happy.  My question is should I trade down from 1.11 to get multiple 2nd's or 3rds or use the 1?  Someone in the draft has rookie picks 15 and 20 and 27 that would probably trade for 11. Or should I do the reverse and try and package my picks for another first rounder, or to move up?  I already traded my 1.04 for diggs and a pick.  So now I am left with:

1.11
2.04
2.05
3.04
3.09

2018 1st 2nd and 3rd

Since I posted I got another trade offer.  My 2017 1.11 for his 2018 1st.  Hell probably make the playoffs but I dont think hell make the finals so itll be between 7-10.  I could probably get him to throw in his 2nd rounder as well possibly?

This is a pretty good year to deal for picks, if you have enough junk on your roster that you have the space to use them.  That's the main downside with dealing for piles of picks...you have to cut someone for each additional prospect you carry.

On the flip side, with so few players in your starting lineup, you're unlikely to become a strong team without adding a few studs...lots of depth isn't going to compete.  I feel like this year's draft is shallower in the "can't miss" end of the pool, and much, much deeper in the "could be good" end.  So since you aren't in the top 3-5, I think I'd prefer having more lotto tickets and would deal out of 1.11.  Then look to flip a lot of those assets as soon as they have a breakout game or two...

I would hold and make a trade during the draft if you want to. You'd be surprised who could fall to 11 and you don't want to be kicking yourself. In a situation like this there's no motive to trade the pick ahead of time, just wait to see who's on the clock. That way you might be able to get people to bid on your pick. Maybe someone would give a 2018 1st AND a 2017 pick, you never know.

If you can trade the 1.11 for a 2018 1st and a 2nd rounder then I would go that route.  The 1st next year is likely to be better than the 1.11 and adding in another 2nd rounder is just a bonus.  I don't think going with multiple later picks this year for the 1.11 really does much for you so I would avoid that.

I would trade 1.11 for a 2018 1st.  I don't love the talent in the 1st round after 1.06 this year and in general I think there is a fairly big group of players of pretty even value that extend to players generally available in the middle of the 2nd this year.  I had 1.09 in a rookie draft and offered it to virtually everyone in the league for their 2018 1st and couldn't get a deal done.  I highly doubt you can also get a 2nd, but if you can that's great.  I would do it without the 1st if that's the best you can do.

Without getting a picture of your current roster I only have one question I think is relevant to your dilemma. How is your team presently at TE? If you have a good TE who will be around for at least two or three years still then I whole-heartedly believe you should trade down from 1.11 to acquire extra 2nd/3rd round picks and/or picks next year. If, however, you are barren at TE then I believe 1.11 is an ideal spot to remedy that problem with a rookie TE with high dynasty potential. There are at least two, possibly three rookie TE's worth taking at 1.11 in my opinion. Whereas at RB and WR the players that will be available at 1.11 are a vast and wide pool of good 'could be' players with little separating the top ten still available there (unless more than one person drops the ball and Fournette, Davis, McCaffrey, Mixon, or Cook falls).

My TE is gronk and qb is winston/mariota/bridgewater so im set at those 2 positions atleast

I ended up accepting his 2018 1st plus a 2018 3rd.  He wouldn't budge on giving his second rounder.

Probably a wash regarding the position of the 1st rounder. You got a 3rd which I'm not sure what that'll do for you but maybe you'll get a decent player out of it. Nothing wrong with taking a year to rebuild. You have plenty of picks round 2-3 that you can use to stock up on some WRs and RBs. There's a lot of talent there. Getting a 3rd I'm not sure really does much for you.

I'd probably have tried to involve more draft picks:

His 2017 2nd rounder, 2018th first rounder for your 2017 first rounder and 2017 3.09. That way he doesn't really lose as much and you end up with three 2nd round picks this year.

Haha I like the way you think, thats the exact trade I offered him and he declined.  Says he didnt want anything to do with 3rd round picks so I countered with the 3rd rounder.
