Betts ran the wrong way on that last GL attempt (1 Viewer)

This was the 3rd down attempt....Wasn't the last attempt the one where he tripped and fell?

Either way the play looked similar to me. I have to wonder if the coached saw the above replay and told the OC to run the same play but tell him to follow the FB this time.... he did, but he tripped. ?? I dunno sounds good anyway.

for what it's worth, it is the exact same play they ran, twice in a row. Gibbs confirmed that at his post game presser

Nobody knows what Portis would have done, Portis cant even say he would have done something different. and it doesnt mean that Betts made a wrong decision, there was a hole to the right, he just got stopped.

If he goes left then that hold from the tackle gets called.
I saw that too. ETA: What I saw was TE Yoder 87

Also, some of the defenders stop pursuing to the outside because he cut it up the middle. It looks likely that the ILB (Pierce?) would have had a free shot at him at about the 3 if he had followed Sellers to the outside. I think he got it a lot closer to the goal line by making the cut.

But we shouldn't let stuff like this get in the way of a good Youtube clip.

Nothing at all wrong with that cut, following the blockers was going to lead into a crowded group of players with no lane.

Ideally Betts should have kept his footing just a bit longer, because his angle and momentum would have carried him into the endzone after he was hit.

Oh, and the Giants players look like ghosts in that video.

Actually, #59 for the Giants changes directions when Betts makes his inside cut. There would have been two LB's and only one blocker if Betts had kept going to the outside.

that and the fact that there was little to no room for him to maneuver that way. He would've had to slow down/stutter step quite a bit to allow Sellers to unoccupy the space between the TE who was holding and the rest of the line.Betts made a good decision and was just blasted by a LB who had more momentum than him.
