Big Ben top 10 QB next year? (1 Viewer)

He seems to be making to same progress as Brady did. Started out his first year as a game manager, basically not trying to lose the game. Then progress more in the passing game to the point where he can put up big passing numbers. Big Ben has all the makings of a great QB in this league and I think Cowher opens up the offense a bit more next year. All they need is a speed WR to go alongside Ward and they got a pretty versatile offense with Ward, Parker, and Miller. I think Big Ben is top 10 next year.

If the first half of the game was all that mattered, Big Ben would easily be a top ten fantasy QB. But, Pittsburgh's tendency has been to run the ball much of the second half. I've noticed that Big Ben will often have 150 yards or so at halftime, but will finish with only 195-215. TD totals are usually good, but again have occurred mostly in the first half of games.

I'm really impressed with his numbers, despite Pitt's tendency to go with the run. I don't see any reason he couldn't be top 10, though top 5 is pushing it simply because of the system he's in.The guy is a helluva a football player and he's only getting better.

I think that Ben is going to be a solid backup QB on a fantasy, but isn't really going to reach "Stud" status based on Pittsburgh's gameplay.Just a couple of years ago, Cower agreed to open things up and ride Tommy Maddox's arm, and the experiment failed miserably (and consequently led to the drafting of Ben). I think that memory is fresh in Cower's mind and he'll continue to be a 'run-first' coach, especially when carrying a lead in the 2nd half.

He only opened things up those years because the defense was terrible in 2002 and the OL was in shambles (which caused the running game to struggle) in 2003.It wasn't really an "experiment." It was done out of necessity.

Not if they continue to run the ball 30-40 times a game with the 15 RB's they have on their roster.Roth is going to be an excellant NFL QB, if he isn't already. He will not make a good fantasy QB thoughIn Pittsburgh offense you'll see Roth game stats as 150 yards passing, 1 TD and 1 INT.

In PPG, he was top 10 this year.

Around 8th in most of my leagues.
Thi sis what most people miss because of the injury. :goodposting: Also, if the running game destabilizes any with Bettis retiring, Ben will be relied on even more. I see next year's running game as being a RBBC. Depending on how that matures and produces, Ben could be huge. Also, getting a decent WR2 would help. Miller has really come on to solidify the TE position.

People who pay attention don't miss it!I love when people say he can't be a good fantasy QB because of the Steelers' system when he's already a top 10 guy passing it as little as he does. He can only get better.

He, and Brees pre-injury, are top 10 QBs and are drafted in the 15+ range in many leagues last year and in 2006.

I don't agree with those projections. Those are David Carr-like numbers. 200 passing yards per game with 2 TDs for every 1 INT is more like it.

I think the upcoming offseason will determine where we should rank Roethlisberger for FF purposes. It seems likely that neither Bettis or Staley will be back next year. But the Steelers will need to bring in another RB to spell Parker. They also may lose Randle-El as WR2. If they take a RB early in the draft or spend some $$$ in free agency on RB clearly they'll be making a statement that they intend to their trend of running the football to win games. However if they go out and draft a WR early or bring in one via free agency I think it will make some statement that Cowher is ready to give Ben the keys. Regardless I think the Steelers will certainly rely more on Ben's arm as he matures, he's their best player. But I think the core of this team will always be pounding the football.

I think Polamalu is their "best" player at the moment, but Ben and Ward are certainly very good, too.

I was ridiculed for projecting him top 15 for this year prior to the season in this forum. How'd that turn out?I'll repeat, Ben has "it" whatever, "it" is.He's a stud, both for FF ball long term (dynasty especially) and in the real game where his record speaks for itself.
