Big Ben vs Cincy Thursday (1 Viewer)

What do the sharks think??

Short week, tasty matchup at home, Ben coming off a 30-41 for over 300 yards performance...................

Is this FINALLY the week he goes off to the tune of 350 and 3 TDs?

On a side note - I love watching the Thursday games :wall: , but hate the quick lineup decisions that have to be made during the course of a work week :lmao:

Im starting him cuz I have no better options. He has been good this year when he has the time to pass. He was good vs SD. I expect him to be good vs CIN but who knows how close this game will be. Perhaps they run the ball the whole time. Im just hoping for 200 yds and 2 TDs before the game gets out of hand.

I'm hoping so, for indirect reasons--I am starting Holmes again since Cotch is @ Tenn & Vjax vs Indy. Cincy has very little pass rush, so Ben should have time to throw.

Cincy's pass D isn't as bad as you might think.
It isn't as good as you might think either. Their run defense is in the bottom ten in the league. Teams haven't usually needed to throw on them that much. It won't shock me if Roethlisberger has a pretty "blah" week for that reason alone. Moore shredded them for 120 and two TDs that last game. Roeth/Leftwich did well too, but with Parker healthier now I can see them just pounding both he and Moore in there.

The guy couldn't throw a TD against the worst pass defense in the league this past week. As a Roethlisberger owner, it's hard to get fired up for this game if he couldn't produce big results against a defense virtually every other QB who's faced them has destroyed.

Hard to see this game not getting out of hand. FWP has run wild vs. these guys in the past. I expect 130+ and 2 TD's out of him. Defense might get another. Ben will take some shots, but I dunno. I'm in a quandry too, as if Orton gets healthier his matchup at St. Louis looks tasty vs going with Big Ben against Cincy. As you've seen with McNabb, they can get some picks.

Nov. 18, 2008 - 11:47 a.m. ET Willie Parker would like to see the Steelers run the ball more, saying they didn't play "Steeler football" other than the final drive against San Diego. "Just keep calling run plays, keep calling run plays," Parker said. "The defense knows we're about to run and they just can't stop it. That's Steeler football to me." After showing he was healthy last week, Parker just might get his wish against the Bengals. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
They tried to throw vs SD and while Ben's numbers were OK, they were in a dogfight until the end in a game they should have won more easily. I think FWP and Moore are strong plays this week.

I think FWP is going to go crazy too. I'm curious though if he'll get pulled if they start working Cincy over OR if the Steelers will keep him in to get some conditioning/time etc...

This is one of those games Pittsburg goes up big in the first half, they run all day long and Ben throws it 15-18 times. Start Pitt WR's at your own risk.

It's pretty simple, really. If you were game planning for this week, and you saw what the Bengals secondary did vs. Philly, and judging by Parker's statements, I bet Tomlin is going to challenge everyone to play smashmouth Steeler football and run it down their throats. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ben have a 13-21, 150 yard 1 TD day.

There's nothing wrong with that weather. And the RB wants to run the ball more? Wow

I think they run the ball a lot. Cincy run D is worse than there pass D. Not to mention they should be up big early and grind the clock with the run.

That's what I thought against the Chargers. I thought he played well from an NFL perspective. He made good throws and kept drives going. But from a fantasy perspective, not being able to throw a single TD pass against any team is bad. Not being able to do it against a putrid pass defense that's giving up huge production in the passing game is horrible. One of his best fantasy games this season came against the Bengals so he has a good chance to do very well. But the guy has been a major bust and I'm done hoping for big games from him. He just doesn't seem to have it in him this season.

If Big Ben does not have a hand in the first 2 or 3 Steelers TDs it will be a long night for him from a fantasy perspective. The Bengals won't score in double digits and the Steelers will play it close to the vest once the game is in hand.

I agree. He needs to strike quickly like he did in the first game against the Bengals or else he's done from a fantasy perspective and it will be the Willie (and maybe Mewelde) Show.

If I were the coach, I would put FWP in at QB against Cincy. The last few weeks Cincy's defense has played with a lot more heart. Pit's pass blocking sucks and will be exposed to a team that doesn't have much to lose. This simplest answer is just to run the ball every freakin play.
