Big Chuck Woodson (1 Viewer)

The Packers know he doesn't have top end speed and hasn't for years. They shouldn't be putting him in a position to guard burners without help over the top.

Worst in the league?

Umm...he let him blow by on the long reception...then came down and knocked him out of bounds saving the TD right there.

On the Hester play...you might want to watch again and realize it was zone coverage and he had the underneath. Collins screwed that up, not Woodson.

I agree on the Woodson part and almost screwed it up.

But to call him the worst in the league or to be cut is completely ignorant.

The guy is a top 10 corner in the league.

I hope you are fishing.

-Woodson was the MVP of the Packers last year (all due respect to Jennings and Kampman).

-Every team in the league would be starting Woodson. -

-The Hester TD was not his fault. Woodson had short and Collins had deep. Collins did not get over.

he got beat on one deep ball by not knowing the kid he was playing against. I don't ever recall seeing another issue where he got "toasted" ... plus they blitzed him a lot

Anyone else had it with Charles Woodson? The guy is awful. If you watched closely last night, he was the only guy on the Green Bay defense getting absolutely torched by that vaunted Chicago Bears offense. Woodson let some fifth round rookie blow by him for a 68 yard reception in the second quarter. Then in the third quarter, Woodson was lining up against Hester who blew past him for for a long TD and was no where in the video screen as Hester crossed the goal line. Nice hustle Chuck. Do you plan on guarding anyone or just waving as they fly by you?To make matters even worse, when Tramon Williams intercepted a Cutler pass and was headed down the sidelines for a touchdown, Packers were making blocks left and right to help Williams score. Then there is one last guy to block, Earl Bennett, and Chuckie Woodson is right next to him but instead of blocking him to clear the way to the end zone for his team mate, he mildly brushes up against Bennett and then hustles on into the end zone for some reason to beat his team mate carrying the ball to the goal line. Then when he realizes the block he missed caused his teammate to get shoved out of bounds he tries to take the ball out of his own players hands almost making him fumble to try to get the TD for himself. What a horrible horrible excuse for a football player. Only Chuckie Woodson could manage to do this. Please cut him from your roster now Green Bay.
This may be the worst post I have ever read. :goodposting:

Worst in the NFL? HAHA that's just laughable... he may not be what he once was, but he's still a decent CB. I mean, back in his hay-day, even Champ Bailey got burned from time to time. They all do...

Every year, long-time Packer beat writer Bob McGinn ranks the Packers' roster from 1-53 in terms of value to the team. This is what he said in ranking Woodson #2 this year behind Aaron Rodgers:

2. CHARLES WOODSON, CBPittsburgh CB Rod Woodson was NFL defensive player of the year in his second season (1993) under coordinator Dom Capers in Pittsburgh. Now look for Charles to contend for the award, if not win it. He is the Packers' best blitzing defensive back since LeRoy Butler. Add half a dozen sacks, a handful of strips and tons of physical tackles to his typical six-interception season and Woodson might need to clear space next to his Heisman Trophy.

;) I also see him possibly moving to safety next year if Tramon can prove he is capable of starting.I don't like our safety position at all and could see Woodson back there QBing the defense in the 3-4 to extend his career and extra year or two.

You guys are out of your tree. Woodson is the best player on the defense. It is frightening how ignorant some people are.

But he won the Heisman...
 is right. Do you have point? You wish you had Heisman? You don't think he deserved it? You just don't like the man? Nice meaningless jab :hophead:
Didn't deserve it. He only got it because they made a big push for "the first ever defensive player" to win it.
Oh :bs: on that.
Yeah, you're right. He was way better than Peyton Manning. Must have had the greatest defensive season ever.

 This guy gets it. They even made a feeble push for an OL to win it in the prior year when Wuerffel beat out Plummer and Orlando Pace. 1997 was a culmination of all the #####ing and moaning that had been ongoing for a player besides a back or receiver to win. Woodson was in the right place at the right time more than anything. Champ Bailey and RW McQuarters were just as deserving 2 way players, however they weren't on TV every week. The funniest thing I remember about that Heisman ceremony was how Randy Moss showed up chilling, wearing shades knowing he was wasting his time.

:coffee: Not close. Sorry.

Never been impressed with Woodson. David Boston torched him when he was with Oakland. He looked like a pop warner kid chasing the pumpkin headed Boston 50 yards to the endzone. He always seems to give up some huge play when he's needed most.

Which 10 would you take ahead of him?For all that he does...name 10 better.

Much less naming enough better that he is the worst or should be cut?

You were wrong on the Hester TD...so why should anyone even listen?

:lmao: 12 years ago and you apparently have some sort of chip on your shoulder about it. Enough to bother posting it in a 2009 FF forum.

On the field for 1,024-of-1,050 (97.5 percent) defensive plays, which led the team, and was named the Packers Hall of Fame Team MVP for the season

How nice BR33ZE that you finally took up watching football, but please refrain from posting for a few more years. Being a new fan can be exciting and don't let all of these knowledgeable posters correcting your inability to see the game deter you from continuing your new hobby.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks Launch.

I'm happy that you disagree. That's what this board is all about.

I watched the game last night and he was getting torched all over the field, not to mention his typical selfish/lazy play on Tramon Williams interception return.

:)

Charles Woodson is not a good tackle football player. That's really the bottom line.

Have a great season, guy.

He got "torched" exactly one time.

Even the best DBs get torched from time to time. He's always been a little overrated ever since his Oakland days. But he's definitely not the worst

It must be the beginning of the NFL season, because the trolls are back in the Shark Pool. Either post more intelligent shtick or go away.

This is the type of post that should get the OP banned. Seriously......nothing good comes from crap like this.

Actually, I was of the opinion that he was radically overrated in Oakland, but he really turned his career around in GB and was underrated until last season.

Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV points out the stellar play of cornerback Charles Woodson on Sunday. "Wood was all over (Chicago tight end Greg) Olsen and when he wasn’t, he was busy coordinating the defense to be sure Olsen was taken care of," writes Nagler. "That’s right, the coaches trust Woodson so completely that they annointed him the quarterback of the defense. He is making all the defensive calls. He had a direct hand in much of what you saw on the defensive side of the ball last night." The fact that Woodson is making the defensive calls is really underrated. He deserves that responsibility, and I'm glad the Packers put their trust in him despite being a cornerback, which isn't typically a play-calling position.
http://community.sportsbubbler.com/blogs/r...al/default.aspxSucks so bad the coaches trust him for calling the D (further pushing my thinking that he will be a safety in the next year or two...sooner if Bigby's injury proves to be bad and both Tramon is ready to start at corner and the other corners can play nickle) and he was a big part of keeping Olsen shut down.

Tied for the worst CB in the league are Jason David and Ellis Hobbs.
I can assure you that David is 9,458 times worse than Elliis Hobbs. You are a better CB than Jason David.
I don't think it's all that fair to rip on Ellis Hobbs. The guy was a borderline #2 who really should have been a nickel in New England. They played him as a #1 because they really had no one else, and he frequently played through some tough injuries that other players would have sat out with (while also handling kick return duties). Hobbs is no Deion Sanders, but he's not a completely terrible cornerback.Remember Duane Starks? Now there was a terrible cornerback.

You need to grasp the fact that you don't know much about football.
