Big props to Charles Grant (1 Viewer)

With all of the negatives we've heard about so many NFL players over the past year or so, it's always nice to read about something good, especially when that player doesn't even try to make a big deal about it.

In his latest article, Peter King tells about how Charles Grant walked over to the VP of communications on the last day of mini-camp. He hands him a wad of cash, $2K in $100s, and asks him if there is any way that he can use it to treat the women that work in the team's office to lunch. So the 20 women that work for the Saints in their team office got to go out for a nice lunch on Grant's dime.

:bag: IBT "well, with as much money as he makes, he should have..." comments.

Thats like me buying each lady at work a roll of lifesavers....thats nice of you charles grant, but not deserving of a
Going out on a limb here, but I think the women that work for the saints would probably appreciate a swanky lunch more than the women you work at Taco Bell with would appreciate a roll of Lifesavers.

I cannot believe that folks can find the negative in this act. How many of his brethren acknowledge these other co-workers of the organization? It should not matter how much $ he earns; he thought to share and he did!

Didn't you read the 2nd post? The only thing Grant is guilty of is being a sketchball. Even so: :lmao:

Years ago in high school, I would buy the secretaries donuts and flowers.

I never got charged with unexcused absences.

Sophmoric as always AhrnCityPahnder, I wouldn't expect less.

Any idea why it was just the women? Do no men work in the front office?
I remember once a lady where I worked brought in pretty (extremely feminine) bookmarks for all the other ladies in the office. One of the ladies whose son worked there as well complained that there were only gifts for the women. I still to this day wonder what that lady's son wanted to do with a pretty bookmark. IOW - don't be such a schmuck.

Charles is a cool guy. He was at the local mall a few years ago signing autographs. They were selling mini helmets for 20 bucks a pop and he bought a whole pile of them and started handing them out to the kids.

I think the money could have went to many other causes more deserving, what about the poor women who are homeless out on the street with no food, shelter or blankets. Good to know a few overprivledged women got to shoves their faces full of lobster.

Wow, some of you people are hard to please.

I hope you live your life by the same standards that you hold others to.

:wall: lemme guess....brother to The Scientist?

or just brother-in-law?

so, if either of the 2 of you would like to fill us in on the latest act of kindness bestowed on the unknowing by you, we'd appreciate it...

I'll hang up and listen...

***edit to add--how do you know he hasn't already donated to other more deserving causes? maybe the guy just wanted to show alittle appreciation to some co-wokers

people like Grant tend to cover all the bases w/acts of kindness like this, so to assume this is his only act of charity is certainly a strech

;)

Its funny how people react when a few do not agree with the majority. I guess we all just need agree on everything, it would make for a great message board.

I am guessing that the next time you go out to eat, you will reconsider and drive to the nearest shelter! And when you go out to buy yourself a new computer, nope that money will go to the shelters. GEEZ! Come on. THis was a nice gesture by a pretty good guy. AND who is to say he has not donated 2K or more to shelters in New Orleans. My guess is he has. Its that this tiime, he just wanted to let people in the front office know that he appreciated their work.

The Scientist,

You are certainly welcome to have a differing opinion especially here on these boards. It is after all what gives the vitality.

I guess I would ask you to explain though what your real question on his character is ...

Would you have preferred that he bought them all new vehicles instead of lunch?

Would you have preferred that Grant hold a press conference, identify all his charitable donations first, and then announce this act of comradarie?

Keep in mind that the only reason you know about this is because a reporter stumbled onto it ...

Grant has made no effort for this to be known outside of his organization.

Was it touched on in the forum (I'm sure it was, but I haven't searched) about Ahman Green trying to pay to get his number on the Texans.

But the guy instead of taking money told Ahman to make a downpayment on a home for a single mother.

I thought that was really cool. I have to find that article.

and if it's :honda: - well sorry.

it has nothing with disagreement it has to do with a human being doing something nice for other human being and you somehow finding fault with it
