Bill Cowher met with the Pittsburgh media today and said that he was not a candidate for the vacant head coaching position at his alma mater North Carolina State. Since the firing of NC State head coach Chuck Amato rumors had been flying around North Carolina that Cowher might leave the Pittsburgh Steelers to coach the Wolfpack for the 2007 season.
Cowher said today that he was flattered and that the NC State job was a good one but he already has a job in Pittsburgh. Left unsaid was Cowher's plans for next season. Cowher still has one year remaining on his contract with the Steelers but broke off talks for an extension this past summer.
I don't have a link yet but just saw Cowher make the statement on local evening news.
