Just thought I'd share a thought I had.

Scenario - Bill Parcells meets with Jerry Jones, and Jones wants to keep both Tuna and TO. Tuna says "no way, and you watch, he'll bad mouth me as soon as I retire."

Jones thinks on this, then tells Tuna that he'll make him a deal - if TO is such a jerk like that, he can come back and coach the team. "Go ahead and retire, and any player who trashes this team will be on the next plane out of here once you un-retire. That way we can weed out the weak and get you the players you really need."

Parcells agrees and continues to act as HC, then announces retirement. Continues to go to Senior Bowl and puts up the brave facade, as only Tuna can.

TO trash talks, and the rest is history.

Interesting theory, except you really don't need to go through the whole charade to know that TO is going to throw him under the bus the moment he resigns.
