Bill Simmons on an undefeated fantasy season (1 Viewer)

Decent article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/071019

If you can ignore his (hopefully tongue-in-cheek) claim that an undefeated fantasy season has never happened in history, and get past his ridiculous theory that the Chambers trade happened because the Dolphins want to block the Pats from going 16-0, even though the Chargers already played the Patriots and the Dolphins still play them twice... it's a pretty entertaining article. He's not everyone's cup of tea these days, but this one is worth a read.

It's bad enough that we have to see him bragging about the Patriots.....but now he's bragging about his freaking FANTASY team?!?

guy in my league ran the table last year :lmao:
Im in a league where a guy won 3 straight titles(10 team dynasty) and 26 in row.Auction style - P. Manning, LJ, LT, Plaxico, A, Johnson, Gates, Pats and Bears D.

Similar to the one example in his article, I went undefeated through the regular season in my dynasty league two years ago, only to get bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

I've ignored Simmons for the past month or so. :bag:

He's a good writer. He just leans on the same shtick far too often.

If I were a non-Pats fan, I would feel the same way. But you have to understand it from our POV, the whole 1-2 weeks of Spygate, he was like a life preserver when it came to us Pats fans turning to the national media. It was nice to have a like-minded guy like that to turn to.Of course, I'm also a Boston transplant living in LA, so I probably relate to him a lot more than most.

The freakin' waiver wire is the epitome of bad fantasy breaks.

Playing on yahoo! 2 years back, #1 team in points. A FBG poster writes up about a certain Samkon Gado. I check yahoo! for him, nothing.

Later, when he's added, he goes on waivers, and the news breaks over yahoo! And the guy with the #1 waiver takes him, and proceeds to mop up in the playoffs.

He would go on to lose to a team with Manning and Alexander, in their record seasons, but even that team wasn't perfect.

I totally understand. He's just gotten to the point that, maybe he'd be better off writing for the Globe rather than ESPN if he continues his current trajectory.

One league I used to be in did the WW in a good way:Starting Week 1, the WW was inverse order of draft position. Then it worked like the actual NFL WW, so once you use your position, you drop to the back. But if you don't make your pick, you stay where you were, and move up if team(s) ahead of you use their pick.So that way, even if you keep winning, you could eventually find yourself with a good WW spot.

starting to become more of the norm in a lot of leagues I see. it's called a "rolling" waiver wire.

Life preserver? Must be rough listening to a couple media guys voice criticism after 200 championships in 3 years.

Combine those 2 wks of 'Spygate' with the ending to last season and the newbies were ready to throw the bags over their heads. Luckily, there was a beacon of hope out there in the name of Bill Simmons.

I just think he was better when he wasn't so mainstream. He needs to realize he no longer has a niche, and stop pretending no one reads his articles.

Really! We've been doing that for 20 years
