Bills shopping WR/PR Roscoe Parrish (1 Viewer)

Rotoworld:

The Bills are reportedly shopping WR/PR Roscoe Parrish as an "exploratory measure."

Last year's first-round pick Leodis McKelvin has emerged as a dynamic returner, and the Terrell Owens signing has pushed Parrish down the depth chart on a roster that has nine wide receivers. At this point, he's more of a luxury than a necessity for the Bills.

If rumors are true the Pats weren't happy Gaffney left for the Broncos, maybe Parrish would be a replacement. Not sure how similar they are.

I doubt they trade him to the Pats ya know.

Gaffney and Parrish are pretty much exact opposites. As the roster stands right now, Joey Galloway and Greg Lewis will be competing for Gaffney's role.

what's his trade value? awesome punt returner, but I wouldn't mind seeing the young WRs get more playing time on offense.

Anybody know if McKelvin would be returning punts?
If Parrish is traded, McKelvin will definitely get the punter returner job. He was amazing returning punts in college, and has shown solid ability at returning kicks in the NFL. He *could* be as good as Parrish, if given the chance.

What type of pick would Parrish fetch? I wouldn't mind seeing the Vikings make a trade for him if it doesn't cost much. They need a returner in the worst way.

Parish is a very exciting player to watch, a great return man, and a capable WR. I'd kind of hate to see him go, but it was already difficult to get him the ball on offense the past two years, without TO, so it makes sense to try to get something for him. I hope he goes somewhere where he can contribute on offense. The guy has blazing speed.

I could see Dallas showing interest, especially if they lose Austin. The Boys have needed a punt returner for several years. And if Austin leaves, they're real short of WRs. Dallas has 11 picks, so they could put together a reasonable package.

Parrish should be a nice slot WR. The Browns were rumored to be interested in Steve Smith, so I would think they could be a possibility.

I just don't think he would garner that much in trade. A 4th would be great.

if he can catch a football, Kokinis should look into what it would take to get him.i am seriously freaking out about who is going to catch the ball for the Browns this year.

The Redskins are likely too stupid to acquire Parrish, but boy, could they use him:

A. We desperately NEED to get Randle-El off the Punt Return Team. He doesn't even want to do it anymore, and risking Santana Moss back there is just plain foolish, given the current stable of WR's on the Roster.

B. God Bless you James Thrash, for years of selfless contribution, but it's well past time you were put out to pasture - Parrish would serve as a replacement for a WR who also plays on Special Teams.

c. Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly have a long way to go before either one of them is going to make significant contributions to the offense. While he doesn't offer the 'height guy' the Redskins so desperately need, he's certainly serve to stretch the field with SMoss, and allow more room for Cooley, Randle-El, Portis, Betts, Sellers (and dare I say Fred Davis?Probably not.) to work in the short and intermediate zones.

Again, too stupid, and frankly, too ego driven (on the part of Cerrato). "Gee, what would it say about the job I did in last years' Draft if I went out and acquired a Free Agent WR, despite how much he might bring to the table, and in some areas where we definitely could use the upgrades? Besides, I'm safe - let's give the kids another year - It shouldn't be that much trouble to go 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 and just miss the Playoffs again. That'll keep the fans just interested enough to keep renewing those Season Tickets!"

Screw you, Vinny. You DOLT.

Sorry for the hijack. Back to the previously scheduled Thread.

I was just about to post something along these lines. Actually, I was thinking more of putting it in the Cowboys thread. They could afford to spend a 4th or 5th round pick on him.

I don't know why they are shopping him?

TO, Evans, Hardy, Parrish, Reed, S. Johnson and I'm pretty sure Jenkins can still be placed on the practice squad.

Hardy, James WR ACT 6'5" 212 12/24/1985 2 Indiana

Hawthorne, C.J. WR ACT 5'11" 168 12/15/1983 1 Hawaii

Huggins, Felton WR ACT 6'2" 186 2/15/1983 2 Southeastern Louisiana

Jefferson, Mike WR ACT 6'1" 206 12/28/1982 1 Montana State

Johnson, Steve WR ACT 6'2" 202 7/22/1986 2 Kentucky

Owens, Terrell WR ACT 6'3" 218 12/7/1973 14 Tennessee-Chattanooga

Parrish, Roscoe WR ACT 5'9" 171 7/16/1982 5 Miami (Fla.)

Reed, Josh WR ACT 5'10" 210 5/1/1980 8 Louisiana State

Sam, P.K. WR ACT 6'3" 210 2/26/1983 1 Florida State

Wilson, George WR ACT 6'0" 212 3/14/1981 4 Arkansas

Current WRs on Buffalos roster. Roscoe wasn't used properly IMO, but with the top 4 set in Lee, TO, Reed, Hardy, plus Steve Johnson looking like a steal in the 7th last year.......plus, are they trying to dump his salary, only 2.5, too give Freddie Jackson his raise?

I'd take a 4th, or he might end up being a June cut.

Add to that you have McKelvin and Freddie Jackson as your return guys, get something out of him now. PK Sam can return as well, but will probably be cut.

And wow have the WRs in Buffalo all of a sudden gotten taller!!!!

that list doesn't look accurate. Lee Evans and Justin Jenkins are both missing from it and George Wilson was converted to safety.this one looks better:

wow that list is awesome

I can see why the Bills would want to give away one of few playmakers on the team

maybe they can draft another slow backup LB with no skills who can only play STs with the pick they get for him

smart team would fire the OC and hire someone who knew what motion and play action was so they could actually utilize the guy's skills.
