"Students with failing grades at Oberlin College, especially black students have requested grades no lower than C's"... Why you ask? Because, that's why!!

Sure, my good buddies who were Freshmen at Pace University and a week into their first semesters of college (who actually were impacted by something extremely devastating) about 6 blocks from the WTC still had to earn their grades, but you entitled little #####es get free C's. Sure, passing grades for all!!

I think everyone should be treated equally, but this is the most pathetic petition ever. I hope anyone who is looking for a handout here gets exactly what they've earned, whether that be an A or an F, and it looks like the Dean feels the same way.

Good grief. Kids are so stupid.
By the ages of 18-22 this is more lazy than stupid. (ETA: I guess it is actually a dangerous combination of both)

Glad the best and brightest we have at Harvard and Columbia also need extensions, hopefully anyone who put their studies aside learns a lesson.

They're not stupid. They are entitled and they abhor doing anything that bores them even a little. And they find most everything not related to photography or music or design or celebrities boring.

To be fair, millennials have taken stupidity to brave new heights relative to previous generations.
Has nothing to do with the fact that their parents are, by far, the worst and most selfish generation in recent history though, right?

Think of it... the boomers, the largest generation, those who fled the city to build soul crushing suburbs that provided THEM a great lifestyle while bankrupting the next generation(s). Those who went from hippie to yuppie to those who now guard THEIR tax breaks and THEIR gov't benefits (now and into the near future) at the expense of, well, those next generation(s)?

I could go on. #### you, boomers.

To be fair their parents are mostly Gen X.

The oldest millenials would be kids of younger boomers on average, but most millenials would be Gen X kids. Current kids in college are almost all Gen X kids.

Yeah the boomers have pretty much screwed all future generations. I am trying to get into assisted living to be honest because I think the money is there. Flip the script on those ####ers. Get their government programs to pay me so I can pay someone else to change their diapers. And then I'm going to sell them water from my water bottle company.

When my daughter was young she use to watch Disney cartoons. Goofy was one of her favorites. Goofy use to stroll along in any number of those cartoons singing. the song was entitled "The World Owes me a Livin." I have been put in mind of that song frequently, lately.

Nothing wrong with this at all. The business world will know that when someone submits an application for a job and lists this college and has a GPA around a C level, the red flag goes up, the hiring company knows they are a failure and they won't get hired. It will blow up in their faces.

I think you are really over estimating the attention this story is getting.

Probably but good companies will weed these idiots out. Bad companies will hire them and thus fail faster. It will all work out in the end.

And then they will scream racism.

An attention getting tactic...It doesn't have to be true... but it does get attention.

Good grief. Kids are so stupid.
This is a new phenomenon. Kids prior to this generation have never done stupid things, acted like lazy idiots, or tried to weasel out of school with passing grades while doing as little work as possible.

Good point.

Quality rant by Koya though, even if it was mostly wrong.

I stand by my rant errors and all. At least the fact that boomers suck.

Maybe the boomers have sucked so much of the life from our culture that by the time we poor sammiched X'ers had kids, there were no more ####s to give.

Don't get me wrong the Boomers messed up a lot of things badly. If you believe in Generation Jones though, there are almost no Boomers with any power left. The power is currently held by Generation Jones (or the 2nd half of Boomers if you don't believe in that generation) and Gen X. I'm at a pretty big company (1000+ employees) and our CEO is an Xer.

I do believe that there are distinct differences between early and late boomers... and to some degree millennials as well. My wife is 29 and definitely has a different world view than someone nearly a decade younger than her in terms of how they were raised.

That said, I think you bring up an interesting point that is quite dependent upon your geography. I'm on Long Island... your traditional power base businesses (finance, banking etc) are still controlled by the older generation and younger boomers especially (folks in their 50's and 60's) both here and in the City. Here in the burbs and likely in other mature suburbs, the average age skews older and with it the powerbase - hell, it's the old boomers here still.

Head down to Austin and I'd wager that's quite different. And in this way, the Mill's get screwed because as people work longer (out of better health for those at the top, or our of necessity for those in the middle) fewer jobs have trickled down to an ever increasing young adult population.

either way, no ####s to give from this X'er, just glad I got my millenial wife to show for my troubles. :coffee:
