First and Foremost, Javon Walker had his knee wrapped and iced after practice today. Ill try to find more out this afternoon.

From Wade's 8/15 presser

Wade Phillips has a lot of respect for Shanny - says people copy and

sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, which tells you that shanny is

a bigger factor than the system. Also respects how they stay at a high level

despite changing personnel.

Asked about Shanny saying Dallas is in his top 5 to go to the SB, Wade

jokingly replied that Denver is in his, and then said, its just the preseason

in a dismissive way

Ware and Merriman are both extremely hard workers in practice

I asked about whether MBIII/JJ workload split to change from last year? "We dont know yet." "We will use

both." He went on to say defenses have trouble adjusting to the change.

TGlenn touch and go for last preseason game

Afternoon Practice Notes- 107 degrees on the field

-Henry looking great receiving

- Sapp getting small through the hole a la Henry

- DAL defense getting to Cutler easy on consecutive plays

- AGlenn skied over Javon Walker for an INT

- Cutler still looks tentative

- For the second time this preseason I've seen a defensive back scream for an offensive pass interference call on Kircus

- Brandon Marshall naturally changes back into a DB when the ball is thrown where it can be intercepted.

8/16 Morning Practice Notes

Stokely still working on the sidelines, but making sharper cuts and going closer to full speed

Marshall making a lot of tough plays look easy

Marion Barber's jump cuts are surprisingly sharp for a power runner

Cecil Sapp loves to put his head down and bull into defenders, he does it almost every play

Selvin Young got yelled at for not finishing a run

Dre Bly continues to show terrific natural hands for a DB

Bobby Carpenter easily beat Cecil Sapp to the corner when he tried to take a run outside

The hitting stepped up a notch today, as did the Broncos offensive performance (very lethargic yesterday, especially in the morning)

Kevin Burnett looked great in coverage - I dont think there will be a true 3 down ILB for the Cowboys the way Burnett and Carpenter are playing.

Hixon is showing natural hands on almost every catch

Ian Gold picked off a tipped pass and showing great concentration doing it

Travis Henry seems to naturally run to daylight

On one telling play in the red zone drill, the play broke down, Cutler moved around and found some space, and Scheffler broke for the back of the end zone. Cutler put the ball just over the outstretched reach of the guy covering Scheffler and Scheffler skied to pull it in for a TD. They still have the mind meld.

8/16 Phillips Press Conf Notes

(Many media grousing about how Wade doesnt say anything in pressers)

The Running Game and Run Defense has been tested this week by Denver and looks good

Red Zone offense needs a lot of work

Stanback is only going once a day, but its a precaution, not because his foot isnt doing well.

Hoyte missed part of practice with a stinger, Ferguson missed practice because his wife had twins

TO is a great effort player in practice

Spencer is the guy is Ellis cant go, otherwise he doesnt want to talk about "if nots"

He loves enthusiasm and emotion in his players

One more report this afternoon, and Ill be in the press box for the game on Saturday.

How is DJ Williams looking?
Cowboys O vs. Denver D is on the far field, but the few times I watched it was the same story, great athlete, instincts still developing. I talked to a Broncos insider and he said no matter how bad DJ is, Webster is only the emergency plan, DJ will stay in the middle.

Still developing = buy low from owners who think he is a bust after 3-4 early games. Thanks for the info.
