Bloom's Top 15 DT with Commentary (1 Viewer)

nobody breaks down the freckled, red-headed stepchildren of the IDP world like bloom... :bye:

what, not top 100 DTs?

:slacker: :)

I agree about the top 2, but I just can't understand why Mebane can't get any love.

Ranked below a DT who will need to be moved to DE (Turk), below a player who is living off the legacies of Mario, Manny and McCargo and is just etremely overhyped (Tyler), and below a player who has some major character concerns.

Mebane would easily be my #4 DT, even a good chance he'd be my #3 DT.

Mebane is a very solid player, and it would be a tough call which to take in the late 2nd if you were a cover 2 team. The reason I have him lower than the guys you mentioned:1) I disagree of Turk being moved. A little more bulk and I think you've got a great undertackle or cover 2 DT. 2) Tyler is the best run lane clogger in the draft. He might run hot and cold, but he's the player of his type. Branch is similar, but not quite as stout because he plays too high at times, although he's a better overall prospect. There is a good debate here, and one that I dont have an answer to:What is best?a) a pure one gapper like Turkb) a pure two gapper like Tylerc) a guy who do both well like MebaneIm sure that the order of these guys varies depending on the team's scheme on D. We have to make rankings for all 32 teams, however, if you asked me to rank these guys simulating a specific team's board, the task becomes a lot easier.

 Same probably holds for corners. Would you rather have an upper second tier cover corner or a first tier zone cover guy with some deficiencies in press coverage? I've seen scouts rank Marcus McCauley and Daymeion Hughes all over the place. The Colt and Falcon scouts may grade those players similarly with regard to NFL value in a vacuum, but will probably come to totally different conclusions on their draft board.
