Blount a must add? (Bolden missed practice today) (1 Viewer)

Let's face it, somebody has to carry the ball in New England. By now it's pretty much evident that Ridley is entrenched in Hoody's doghouse. With Hoody being so hard-headed, I find it hard to believe he trots Ridley out there after making him a healthy scratch last week. Obviously this is based on Bolden's health, but I have to assume Blount is a must add.

Honestly, if you are down to "Blount a must add" come playoff time, it isn't him who will win it for you, it's the fantasy gods.

nah. Vereens the play in NE
I own Vereen in a different league, but he doens't usually carry the ball on 1st or 2nd down. He's used a 3rd down back and even split out wide. I think it's safe to say that Vereen really doesn't effect NE's actual running back.
Its safe to say that? News to me.

Oh, and Blount still sucks. Ridley would still be available in the doghouse or not.

Vereen plays a role in potentially eating into carries if the need presents itself. While what you say about his main role is true - third down and moveable part / possession receiver - if needed he will tote the rock and they have confidence in him. In week 1, things went off track for NE running game and he ended up with 14 for 101. That's not the goal, but say Blount fumbles and Bolden isn't doing it for the coaches - cant see them hesitate to go with Vereen. Again, not likely but definitely a consideration.

I don't know, I usually like to catch the moves beforehand. My strategy is try to stay 2 steps ahead. While, sometimes you swing and a miss on a reach and other times it's a home run. For people that own Ridley or need a Flex play, this could be it. The Pats haven't been the most honest team when it comes to injury reports and in the even Blount gets 15+ carries this week with goal-line looks.. next week will already be too late. I'm just sharing my thoughts. I added him, others don't have to.

To be clear, Blount is very much add worthy. In fact I doubt he's even on the waiver in two of my three leagues and perhaps none of them.

My point was only to suggest that Vereen could be a threat to take on carries in certain situations.

Ridley will have more carries than Blount this Sunday
Any back up this at all?
Just a long time Pats fans who knows that BB zigs when everyone expects him to zag. I think he wanted to get Ridley's attention and two games on the bench is enough to do so.
Got ya. You definitely never know with BB, however it seems that Ridley had already been taught multiple lessons, this year even, and had not apparently learned. Can always change, but Ridley seems an odd man out right now until he earns back trust, which won't be easy if he doesn't play.

If Blount can hold onto the ball (no guarantee) , then he might give them enough in addition to Gronk and Vereen being back as a straight up, power, tire out the defense a little, runner. If Blount doesn't perform Ridley certainly has the skill to do well, but he seems off the radar right now, not just being taught (another) lesson.

That was my exact thought. With NE's remaining schedule being the Browns, Dolphins, Ravens.. They can be up big in 2 out of those 3 games, which would make Blount a decent enough reach. People have this "garbage time" point hate, but I don't. I don't care if they're up 34-0, with Blount being their "power, tire out" running back, he's going to get carries. They can go to Vereen, but I don't think they want Vereen taking the pounding that comes with being a bellcow back, he's too valuable in other facets of the game. Bolden has been largely ineffective recently with Blount getting goal line work. All of this is obviously contingent on Ridley being active or not, but if Ridley is a healthy scratch on Sunday, I have no reservations on flexing Blount.
