Blueprint Juice Diet (5 Viewers)

How's this going, Oats? Two large pizzas and a stick of butter for dinner tonight?
Still on the wagon. Somehow my weight was up 3lbs on today's weigh-in. My wife says it's the sodium in the bowl of turkey chili I ate yesterday that retained some water. But I've got a pretty reliable thing going now, and I'm certain that if I just keep doing what I've been doing there will be lots of folks here with egg on face.
 Need cliffs please. Don't feel like browsing through 10 pages.I see in the OP that the juice was just a 3-day thing. So what does this "reliable thing" entail, exactly?
It was more like a 3 hr thing

Eating healthy. He'd already been doing it for a few days before the short-lived juice journey.

OAT - real talkI hate veggies and fruits.I don't consider potatoes either one, I do love a good pomegranate.I bought a Nutri Bullet to see if I could stomach some veggie juice crap. I have been having a handful of spinach, handful of blueberries, handful of strawberries, and a banana. Add a little water and some flax seed for protein and its pretty dang tasty.Let me repeat I hate most fruits and veggies.....I am now a fully stocked farmers market and have more fruit spinach kale etc in my fridge now than I have ever eaten in my life.

:lmao: When's your period?

Thanks for the support friends!!!!1I feel awful. I think the combination of quitting booze, coffee, and cutting calories way down all at once are destroying me here. I went to bed before 9 Slept a lot. Still feel like the walking dead I'm so exhausted. And a crushing headache. Almost feel like I've got the flu or something. Hopefully it gets better from here.
What is the purpose of quitting coffee?
I don't think there is one. Other than the juice instructions tell you to do that. For the "cleansing" effect.I really just wanna cleanse my gut and manboobs.

Did they vacuum out your poop?!?

I threw a mango, a pear, a big handful of grapes, half a cucumber, a kiwi, and a whole bunch of spinach in the blender, splitting it with the wife for dinner. A lot of sugar, but damn tasty. #aboutme
For you people who know this stuff: Does the fruit/vegetables blended "count" as good, or just sugar? I'm assuming its good, but also assumed fruit juice would be good for you. My wife has a $500 blender (yes, seriously) and I eat a lot of smoothies.

It's got all the original fruit in there, I assume it hits my system a little faster because I don't chew quite as well as the blender, but that doesn't freak me out. Got my wife a vitamix for Christmas and she's been buying fruit for them at Costco. Me too.

this wouldn't be just the juice -- it's the whole thing blended up.also, juice might have added sugar, and it doesn't have all that spinach, kale, etc.so, I'd assume this is pretty healthy for you, and you can always adjust the amount of fruit in there, if the sugar content bothers you.

Is this seriously the thread where we question a dude's masculinity for drinking red wine? What about for having good taste, and liking hot women? We rip on that in here too?Freaks. Skinny people are nuts. I may wanna stay fat.
I don't think it's safe to assume all these people are skinny.

Vitamixbro, hifive. Only I was not smart enough to make it a Christmas gift. Got pressured with the fact that she has never actually asked me for anything expensive before and had to go for it. Really enjoying the smoothies, good to hear they are as good for me as I hoped. We may need a smoothies thread to discuss healthy stuff to put in there.

Yeah, I had to get it as a Christmas gift because it was coming home one way or another. I'd be on board. Best part about smoothies is that my wife makes one that has a ton of kale, cabbage, and spinach in there and it just tastes like awesome.

Otis, 3 things:a) I'm pulling for you. b) See the posts about the blenders. The blender has drastically increased my fruit/vegetable intake and its much easier to get that stuff in your diet. I would consider it. c) My wife and I have been considering getting the "up by Jawbone" bracelet and tracking what we eat, how much we sleep, and how much activity we are getting. It's $130 which is why we haven't bought them yet (I'm not rich like you), but maybe this would be a good way to keep you motivated? The sleep thing is also really neat and with the baby, I'm sure you could stand to get some better sleep like I could.

Might look for Moves, MyFitnessPal and Zio Sleep Manager for the iPhone. These apps should get you going until you can afford a fitbit or Up.

:goodposting: I just read this entire thread and was about to post this exact same thing. Bought one 3 weeks ago and have been pounding awesome foods in it I would have never touched before. The Nutri Bullet rules. :banned:

Funny, I was looking at the UP and seriously considering it. Maybe I will pull the trigger and let you know how it works out.I've been tempted to get a juicer thing, right up until the guy at work told me his cost 2 grand. Oh and when I tried drinking juice for a day and couldn't. :X

Juicers always sound like they would be cool.....up until you have to clean them.

Use ours 3-4x/week. It's a breeze to use and clean. Spend a few minutes at night, throw the smoothie in the fridge, and you've got an immediate, healthy breakfast in the morning. Any time I don't use it I regret it. We also have a juicer, and it collects dust. A nice blender is a different deal.

Clocked about 1k calories today. Suck it BostonPhil.
Seems very unhealthy to only eat 1k in a day.
Depends on what you're eating. If you're eating 1k calories of mostly vegetables with some meat in there you're fine. If you're eating 1k calories of bagels you're not getting enough nutrients.
 I feel great. Big salad for lunch. Followed by a Greek yogurt. Some coffee and chewing gum in between. Some chicken and broccoli for dinner. Health shop ginger snap cookies for dessert. Lots of water. Not that hard. Didn't reslly get hungry and was too busy most of the day to think about it. Hardest part was standing over the liquor cabinet when I got home and not cracking a bottle of wine.

Anything below 1,500 is to low unless prescribed by a doctor
You'll forgive me if the fact that you can't get to/too straight makes me question your credibility here.

As long as you feel great and are eating quality food, I think eating extra calories just for the sake of extra calories would be counterproductive. If the Greek yogurt was plain and full fat, keep on keeping on. If it was some sort of fruity flavored thing, it's a sugar bomb.

On a regular basis you might be correct but occasional caloric restriction or intermittent fasting is actually quite good for you. I ate 516 calories for the day, including two glasses of red wine and omega 3 fish oil supplements (the rest was Brazil nuts and natto). I do at least one day/week of at least 12 waking hours fasting. Here is a good write up on the benefits of IF with links to a lot of primary research articles on the topic.

I need to be nice and helpful like you, rather than dismissive like I have a tendency to be

when you speak of fasting, are you talking about an actual absence of food for a day, or something like your 500c day?

Even then I think getting enough quality calories is important. Mark touches on it here.
Your hesitance is understandable, as caloric restriction has long been associated with bone loss, likely due to the reduction in circulating IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor 1) levels. Since intermittent fasting does not appear to have the same effect on IGF-1 levels, however, I’d imagine it’s pretty safe for bone health. Just make sure you’re eating enough calories when you do eat (the IF rodents in the study did not reduce calories overall)
I'm sure it's not going to hurt you fitness on occasion but calories are still important. I have used the Leangains fasting method then moved to the Eat when and have stayed there. I still eat 2,000-3,000 calories a day and have maintained with out much effort.
