Bluetooth question - two connections in car, calls & music (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I have an iphone 6 and an older car that does not have bluetooth.  I have a motorola bluetooth speaker phone that attaches to the visor and I listen to music via cable to the aux input of the car stereo.  I was thinking of getting a bluetooth receiver to plug into the aux so I have no more cable in the car.  I understand that the iphone 6 can connect up to 7 bluetooth devices simultaneously, so connecting to both shouldn't be an issue.  If the bluetooth receiver also has call capabilities and has a microphone - what happens if I'm connected to both bluetooth devices and a call comes in?

I understand that there are bluetooth receivers that don't have the call capabilities, but the ones I've found still have a cable to connect to the aux.  I kind of like the small bluetooth receivers that plug directly into the aux but the ones I've found all have the call capability.

Here is one of the devices that support music and calls:

Here is one that has only music and no calls:

So - does anyone know what happens if I'm connected to both bluetooth devices (that support calls) and a call comes in?

Explain to me again why you want 2 speakers?

Use one with calls an listen through your Car audio

I don't want two speakers.  Some of the car audio receivers have a microphone and accept calls - the ones that plug directly into the aux without a cable.  If the bluetooth receiver I use for car audio also has call capabilities and I'm also connected to the speakerphone, what happens?

what?

My point is if you get a device that takes calls, why do you then need the speakerphone?

I want to get rid of the aux cable and use a bluetooth receiver into the aux for music.  My aux is low and between the two front seats - from my experience having a microphone for calls that far away doesn't work well.  This is why I want to keep/continue to use the bluetooth speakerphone that attaches to the visor.   I understand that there are bluetooth receivers that don't have the call capabilities, but the ones I've found still have a cable to connect to the aux.  I kind of like the small bluetooth receivers that plug directly into the aux but the ones I've found all have the call capability.

When we connect our phone via bluetooth in our car and a call comes in, the sound comes through the speakers of the stereo.  Is that what you're wanting to know?

Thats what I thought.  No

This is what he is asking I think

He has a bluetooth device on his visor that he uses to make calls.   I 'm guessing that his speaker phone is not the roadster 2 since that has a built in FM transmitter.

Anyway I think he plugs his phone into the AUX receiver via a cable into his radio to listen to music that way.

He wants to get rid of that cable and get a bluetooth receiver that plugs into the AUX but also keep the speaker phone.

He's asking if he connects to both what happens with a call.

it depends - even though the Iphone allows it, the 2 receivers may not allow it.  It's possible you won't be able to connect both simulatneously.

What's the purpose of the bluetooth device on his visor if he gets a bluetooth radio?  There's no reason to keep it :oldunsure:

Thats what I asked    He wants to still use it to make calls only

He doesn't want a bluetooth radio - he wants a bluetooth device to go into his aux.

I mean connected..

They should be using different Bluetooth profiles but if they use the same one it won't work

I installed this brand of device in my Honda Odyssey. It attaches to the back of the radio to the XM connector. There is a wire if you want to use it, but the main connector is BT for voice (attached mic) and other audio (Spotify, etc). Instant connection when XM is activated on the radio.

So I bought the Unify audio only bluetooth and the 3.5mm adapter as suggested by belljr.  This works great - I pair/connect both the speaker phone and Unify to my phone.  I just need to make sure they don't try to connect at the same exact time - first one then the other.  When a call comes in the phone pauses the music and I can answer the call on the speakerphone.  When the call is ended the music starts again to the audio bluetooth.

Thanks everyone for the input.
