Vernon Wells - 25 HRs

Tim Lincecum takes over the closer's job in SF and finishes with 20 SV.

Ned Yost is the first manager fired during the season

Red Sox remain in playoff contention until the last week of the season

Surprise teams: Seattle (better than expected), Atlanta (worse than expected)

ETA: Giancarlo Stanton leads MLB in BB and SO

Bryce Harper wins NL MVP (I boldly predict that at some point in his career, he hits .400, but not this year)

Underperforming team: Blue Jays

Outperforming team: Pirates (break .500 and come close to playoffs)

First manager gone: Charlie Manuel (maybe not quite as bold)

Evan Longoria wins the AL MVP (not sure how bold this is)

Angels don't finish first or second in the AL West

Ubaldo Jimenez throws a no hitter

Houston sweeps a series with Texas

Someone finally notices how great Paul Konerko has been

Ernesto Frieri leads the majors in saves. Guy Fieri makes a lousy roux requiring multiple retakes on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.

Al Albuquerque gets traded to the Dodgers and demoted to AAA. Proceeds to lead the Albuquerque isotopes in saves and mound-based nuclear fallout.

The wife and I were in downtown OKC several years ago. We were trying to decide, i.e. arguing, about where to eat on the side of the road when we saw Guy Fieri driving by in his car.The wife yelled at him and honked my car's horn repeatedly. Only after he stopped right next to us, lowered his shades in an Arizona Ron fashion, and said, "Hey guys, nice to meet you, but I'm trying to film a scene here" did it finally register with the wife what he was doing.

I remind her of that as often as possible.

Jays don't finish at .500

Orioles struggle to do the same

Al East only has one team (Rays) finish over 85 wins.

Joe Mauer aggressively turns on an inside fastball and hits a long home run to right at Target Field. The Twins bronze the ball in honor of this rare feat and charge $5 a photo to have pictures taken with it. All proceeds go to the Lenny Faedo Hitting Academy in Tijuana, Mexico.

Mike Piazza comes out of the closet. Not only that, but his partner, Brian Roberts, comes out as well. Roberts turns back the clock and hits .367 for the O's and wins the batting title with Piazza in the first row watching him every strut of the way.

-Braun gets a 50 game suspension.

-The Dodgers barely finish above .500.

-Marco Estrada starts for the NL in the ASG

-A fan runs on to the field at Marlins Park and it takes 10 minutes to catch him because there are only 2 security guards on duty for games, and one of them is in the bathroom

AL is going to go pretty much as you would expect.

Blue Jays finish a disappointing fourth in the AL East. Northern Voice tires of being the official team apologist and defects to rooting for the Twins which is practically a Canadian team anyway. Gopher State sends him a care package.

Pirates break the streak (win 85 games, finish 2nd in Central behind Cincinnati)
