I don't get many Arizona games where I live. What happened with Boldin last year. Just a matter of a rookie QB, or something more?

What happened to Boldin last year?

Well iirc he put up 1200 yards and went to the Pro-bowl. He'll be fine next season :(

Random chance, methinks.I tend to look at a whole season for performance. Whether a player is hot at the beginning of the season or end, I usually chalk up to sample size. I don't think you're going to see much historical correlation in whether a player is hot at the beginning or end of seasons.

I think Boldin is going to offer nice value, given that many will focus on his relatively few TDs and some cooling down the stretch with a new rookie QB.

The only concern I would have is how much Whisenhunt will focus on the running game as opposed to the bombs-away mentality of Green.

In watching a number of their games after Fitz came back it seemed to me that Matt had a stronger affinity for Fitz than Boldin. Even though their targets per game may have been roughly similar it seemed to me that Matt threw more "catchable" balls to Fitz than to Boldin. Boldin got a lot of balls tossed his way that showed up as targets in the stats but that were not, IMO, reasonably catchable balls. I wouldn't be surprised to see this continue.

This is admittedly more of a gut feeling from watching the games than a statistical analysis.

So Matt threw better balls to Fitz because he liked him more? I'm confused.

Not to speak for Bevo, but it looked to me like Fitz was always the first read. Boldin would get his targets, but they were as a second or third option and the pocket was collapsing, thus they weren't always the best throws.

Don't forget Denny fired his early season OC and James started having 100 yard games late in the year. Boldin is still the man.
