Booze Tax State Map (For real, WA state?) (1 Viewer)

One of the things that stands out to me is how low California is. They could keep it very reasonable and still pay some bills.

Being in NH I am certainly impressed with quite a few of the other states.
Growing up in MA, I remember the BIG state liquor store on I93 just a couple exits over the border into NH (Folks would stop there one the way up north for skiing!!). It's like a rest stop. It also used to be a big deal on Sundays when MA didn't sell liquor on that day of the week.

Here in the Commonwealth of VA, since the gov't sells all the liquor, AND gets the Tax, they must love selling liquor!

WA has an extremely high booze tax b/c the state government just relinquished control of distribution and sale of liqour, and the increased taxes are supposedly a temporary measure to cover the transition costs.

Yeah, growing up in Lowell I remember making the Sunday beer runs. Also took advantage of the cheaper cigarettes too.
