Bored Upgrade - discussion (1 Viewer)

Quoting or posting with Chrome is a bit messed up for me - it is saving stuff typed if you refresh or leave without posting what you typed. When you come back into the thread the previous typed stuff shows up. Caused some issues when I was quoting someone's post.

Safari seems to work.

This whole embedded image thing is completely ruining threads that already deserved to be ruined because of their lack of good content!

Seriously, this site has become a lot less cool to browse at work

I'll go ahead and say it... With the tweaks in place, (and likely a few more on the way) I LOVE the new board.

NICE WORK Memphis Foundry & Team

GET OFF MY LAWN!!  ;)

But don't worry.. Aaron keeps telling us they will be gone soon and then the rest of us that like images will be the ones left :kicksrock:
I don't mind the pictures if we could harness the power a bit. A thread like the cat gifs or kids getting owned thread is enhanced by pictures. Some threads are ruined by it.

Any way to give the thread creators the power to allow pictures in a thread? Or simply turn them all off like sigs of yesteryear? Heck, maybe allow some dislikes in addition to the likes (which should be way more than 10) so those destroying threads by spamming will take a board hit fwiw.

Has anyone made a joke about this board reminding them of the Oscars?  If not, I call dibs.  Seems like an easy joke, but i can't go back and read all of the comments because I can only stare at this site for a limited amount of time before my retinas start to burn.

How so? Seems easy to me.
I quoted a post in one thread. Then went back to the same thread and tried to quote another longer post and I noticed A) the first post I quoted was still being copied B) I couldn't write any text. The post I quoted was long and I couldn't scroll below it to write my post. I tried multiple times and just gave up.

You liked a half mile long line of single letters on mobile? I think there should be a limit of 2-3.

Could be a few more than 2-3.  I think the trade off would be well worth posts like this one.  I have no idea how to get rid of all these boxes.  Enjoy!

It's going to be so tempting for a guy like Otis to start a new thread now that there is a giant rectangular yellow button.

It could be nothing but pictures of Joe's favorite bible passages and they're still going to  be taken away.

You quoted me somehow. I don't blame you

Was I the only one who liked the nested quotes?  I feel like I'm lost when I see people talking now.
I was ok with them as well.

My problem with the upgrade is at work.  I have to use IE and have no control over the version or any settings.

I have to log in each time, it won't let me click the Remember Me.

The dots and stars to the left of the thread titles do not show.  I can mouse over them, but I don't see them.  Annoying.

Quick question - on the breadcrumbs, is it possible to include a link to the current page for the last breadcrumb?  Right now there is no link, but its an easy way to refresh the page if you added a link to the current page.

Hmmm ... inserting pictures is way less intuitive than I thought.

People were saying drag-and-drop for pics? No dice. No way to paste in a link and get the photo?

Why do web designers ignore IE? Is the assumption now that EVERYONE is using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari? Everyone? Really?

Web designers should not assume everyone's on "new things" every 5 years or so. Ridiculous.

Where is the equivalent of "my content"?

Also, getting stuck when hitting the wrong quote button and not being able to get rid of it is annoying.  Hopefully they are working on that.

I cannot see

'Go to first unread post' button

its there just invisible

Ton of buttons I can't see (both in IE 11 and on Blackberry), and lots of links that don't do anything.

Can't even navigate the page numbers normally - the next page/prev page arrows don't work at all. Clicking on the page numbers themselves works about half the time. I can right-click on the "Page X of Y" link and type in a page number, but that's an annoying amount of overhead.

IE is about as stylish and current as...

I understand that IE is not the latest/greatest. It's still commonly used, and should be fully supported.

Sheesh -- according to netmarketshare.com, over 40% of desktop web users still access the Internet with some version of Internet Explorer. IE 11 alone is over 25% of all desktop web users.
