I always thought a good TE would be useful in the cold weather in Buffalo but...... :bag: regarless, any thoughts on these two?

meh Royal can't be the guy. Really? You think so?
absolutely. why not? they love him.
he hasn't done squat in his NFL career and I keep hearing good things about Everett's athleticism or the love the coaches have for CieslakI think you posted this story a while back but clearly some Cieslak love there

This guy, who I don't agree with but nonetheless, thinks Everett could play in the slot. While that might be :loco: it does show(yet again) how athletic he is that someone would even suggest it.

I just feel like he's fauria and everett and Cieslak are Graham and Watson

Always look to the contract. Royal has it.

I'm not crazy about Royal either, but he got starter money and is going to be given the job until either he flops or someone else dramatically outplays him. He's easily the best blocker among the group and that will ensure that he continues to get playing time. Everett, Cieslak, and Euhus will most likely be competing with each other for playing time as a receiving TE but not really with Royal. Whoever comes out ahead will probably see time in 2-TE sets and maybe replace Royal in certain packages. Cieslak is coming out of nowhere so maybe he keeps rising but he could also just as easily wind up not making the team. I also think Everett is probably going to wind up as a wasted pick. He really wasn't very good at Miami and comparing him to Ben Watson is crazy talk as far as I'm concerned. In general though, I don't see this coaching staff getting the TE involved very much and I think they'll be more than happy with a blocking TE like Royal as the starter. Royal isn't a total scrub though and I think he'll be at least decent in the passing game. Campbell was a pretty nice option in the past yet they were happy to get rid of him for Royal.

Bottom line: all signs this entire offseason point to Royal as the Bills starter in 2006.

I dont post articles in May/June. At this time of year they are all speculation and fluff.

Sorry, I know this adds nothing to the conversation as I don't know squat about the situation in Buffalo, but every time i see the name Cieslak I have the image in my head of a guy who looks like this

Ceislak is just now being taught to run routes and catch. Apparently, he's 'catching' on quickly.

Cannot get excited over any TE in Buffalo - who's throwing the ball????
oh true, very true but much like the Raiders TE thread a few weeks ago in some deep drafts you begin thinking "what starters are left" or "what TE is Buff throwing to this year" and draft on sheer opportunity+hope.I'd like to visit each of those types as the summer wears on.

Bills | Blocking is priority for tight ends

Published Wed Jul 5 4:04:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills tight ends coach Charlie Coiner said blocking is the top priority for the Bills' group of tight ends. Coiner used the St. Louis Rams' offense as an example, as Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild previously served as the Rams' offensive coordinator before joining Buffalo. "I expect the tight ends to be tough," said Coiner. "I look at the St. Louis offense, an offense that has been very successful, and I watched what the tight ends did there. The first thing I see is that they are very versatile, meaning they are good in the run game and pass protection."

Message to the ff community: avoid Buffalo TEs at all costs.

Here's a link that sounds like they will be somewhat MORE involved in the passing game...not that there will be much of a passing game in Buffalo. This link is from their site and it is in the FBG News link.http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3848
