Brad Johnson To Start Sunday

After a week of conflicting reports and uncertainty at the quarterback position, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has cleared the air.

Outside the team hotel Saturday night, Jones told reporters backup quarterback Brad Johnson would start against the Rams Sunday. He even seemed to suggest there had never been any doubt Johnson would be the starter this week.

Romo is expected to dress out and be the primary backup to Johnson.

Johnson took the majority of the reps with the first team offense this week in relief of Tony Romo, who was attempting to play through a fractured pinkie finger on his throwing hand.

Romo was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and did not participate Friday. He was listed as questionable on the final injury report.

For Johnson it will be the first start since Dec. 17, 2006 when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

This is the best decision for Romo and the Cowboys. They'll get through this week and then re-evaluate the situation next week. But there's no reason to risk further injury against the Rams.
