Bradshaw vs Jacobs - why does this get no play (1 Viewer)

So I was looking at the stats for these two guys on Wednesday, and it confirmed my impression of things. With about 50 fewer carries (yet only 100 fewer yards), Ahmad Bradshaw is every bit as effective running the ball in NY as Jacobs.

Everybody talks about the running game of the Giants and it's Jacobs this and Jacobs that. I don't get it. Bradshaw runs like a beast, he runs angry....he gets nearly as many carries, and makes more out of those carries. I know he's battled injuries the entire season, but seriously....why doesn't he get more love? And why not more consideration as every bit as important to the ground game as Jacobs?

Earlier this season Peter King commented on Bradshaw and I think he summed it up....everytime Bradshaw touches the ball, you hold your breath. I can't say that for Jacobs.

What say you? (no vested interest here, I own neither...this is general football discussion)

I have to agree. Bradshaw is a stud, but w/ his injury it's better to split up the carries. Jacobs has the reputation...much like Marion Barber w/ the Cowboys. The Cowboys should play alot more Choice & Jones because their offense is much better (more explosive) w/them but Barber has the rep & the big contract.

If Bradshaw becomes the man, he will be a complete stud...1st round fantasy pick.

I drafted both, assuming Jacobs would miss some time. I figured that with such a great offensive line, I would be set up nicely...but that front five has been a HUGE disappointment. Between the lines woes and Bradshaw's injury, I think it's tough to get a true assessment of the situation. When Bradshaw's playing, they're actually using him more as the GL back than Jacobs. MY guess is because the line has been so bad inside, and Bradshaw is faster laterally.

Wild year in NY. Big time disappointment.

Bradshaw is a better all around back IMO. I have watched both play alot and I would rather have Bradshaw.

I watch every Giant game at least once and my opinion is that they both help each other stay fresh, but Jacobs is the better runner. This year, neither back has run well though and I am including the OL woes (which are hard to explain and definitely were not predicted). Their YPC is fine, but their vision and how they have looked has not been good. Jacobs is slowed by his knee injury and is not banging into the line and Bradshaw with his injuries has just not been sharp. teams have to respect the passing game much more this year and the running attack has not been as good as past years.Jacobs' value extends beyond his carries though as he does wear out a defense and that is the unseen yardage he gives. If I could only have one of them, the answer is Jacobs

Jacobs' value doesn't lie solely with his statistics. His frame wears out defenses and by the time Bradshaw comes into the game, the defenses must make an adjustment to Bradshaw's more elusive/explosive style of running. This is especially beneficial in the latter half of the game when most defenses are exhausted from Jacobs' constant pounding of the ball. Though this style of football hasn't been as effective this year as it was last year with Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw, it certainly contributed to Bradshaw's statistics this year.
