Remembering back to when Marino got injured, a little used backup named scott mitchell stepped in and Miami did not miss a beat. Mny people started to think that, while Dan was good, perhaps it was Shula and his caching ability that had a large hand in the success of the Dolphin O. There was also some stupid sports writer (Greg Cote) who wrote that Miami should trade Dan and keep Mitchell. That didn't happen and Miami saw mitchell leave for detroit (and was somewhat successful), and Dan came back to have a good season (but as time went on, that leg and Dan's mobility were never the same again).
Now we have Brady getting injured, and Cassell stepping in . Some are starting to think that Brady may partially be a "system" qb and that the pats may be better off trading brady and keeping Cassell. We also see a detroit team needing a QB. Brady's movement in the pocket may be affected by this injury, so he may not be as mobile (at least in the pocket) as he once was...
The only difference in these scenarios is that New England had a defense, so brady has a zillion rings.
