Brady Quinn agrees (1 Viewer)

It's about time! I'm one of the very few that think this kid will actually be descent in the NFL. Now it's time for the Browns to build some talent around him.
I think it's going to come down to his accuracy. I think his decision making should be pretty good, but he has a tendency to float the ball sometimes. I don't know if that's something they'll be able to fix if Weis wasn't able to.

How?
1. Drafting Quinn2. Signing Quinn

Double Whammy.
3. Trading their first rounder next year away for the priviledge. 4. Condemning themselves to sucking badly so their first rounder will be good, too.
What does this mean? They condemned themselves to suck because they traded their pick but in doing so their First Rounder will be good? If their first rounder is good, then did they really condemn themselves. And how does trading away a first rounder next year make Quinn good?

:goodposting: Top QB prospect, projected to go as high as #1 and no lower than #9. Also considered to be more NFL ready than most QBs coming in. The gamble on him being special was certainly worth it.
I don't know about top QB prospect, but he does have some serious upside. But of course the ND haters will not hear any of it and can't wait to see the guy throw his first pick so they can jump up and say he sucks and they knew it all along....College is over. Quinn is a Brown. The team that addressed it's two greatest needs, Line and QB in the first round.

Are you seriously that 'tarded - CLE's O has more than few ? marks - the biggest being at QB.

But go ahead and draft a rookie QB (reporting late to camp no less) - they have a great history of producing. So what if he may not start right away (if at all) this year?

" :goodposting: " is right

Who said Quinn was at the top of anyone's draft sheets? And you, as well as anyone else should know that he would rank higher on a dynasty league than a redraft league. But to blindly call the kid a Dbag because you seem to have a bias against him is ignorant. So not knowing anything other than your initial ignorant/bias comments, :lmao: is right.

I wasn't overly impressed with him at Notre Dame but it will be interesting to see him in the NFL. Did he report to the team's mini-camps? If so I wouldn't think that he has missed that much of training camp that he would be that far behind.

Barring injury could it be possible for him to win the starting job and face the Steelers right out of the gate?

So he's still in Phoenix? So he's probably going to miss yet another practice because he couldn't even get himself to Cleveland when the deal was close to done?

And falling to #22. Hmmm. Especially being passed by teams with QB needs. Makes me wonder, that's for sure. I personally don't think he has the physical tools to be anything but an average NFL QB at best.

Realistically, 1 team after Cleveland's 1.03 that could have used/needed to draft a QB passed on him: Miami.2 years ago we saw Oakland pass on Leinart. Same thing. It happens.

I really can't wait to see Braylon Edwards this year. 2 years removed from injury, Frye in his 3rd year, Derek Anderson coming on stronger than last year, and Quinn added to the mix to possibly play this year.

IMO, we could see a Lee Evans like jump in statistics.

A sucky team traded away next year's first for a player who most likely won't help them win this year. In fact, he might make them worse this year, if they put him in. So not only did they trade away next year's first, which was already a very valuable pick because they sucked, they did so to get a player who may make it even more valuable, because he will make them suck more.

OKBrowns might as well just forfeit all their games then, huh?
No, because they don't even have their first rounder next year. They may as well try to win a couple.

Ahhh, I get it now. Their first rounder next year will be better because you think they will suck. I thought you were referring to Quinn as their first round pick that would be better and that made no sense....I get it now....

Did he report to the team's mini-camps?
He was at all the OTAs and minicamps.

99% no.
The hold up on the contract was escalator incentives based on starts. Guess what that means to Quinn's chances of getting over 50% of the starts his rookie year? Quinn is probably doing right this moment. The news hit only about two hours ago and Quinn was on his way to Phoenix to sign the contract and then he was going to hop a plane to Cleveland. He said yesterday that his bags were packed. The signing is an anti-climatic a non-story AFIC. Lienart missed two full weeks of camp last year, another Condon QB client who was selected later than expected. The Browns FO has been saying all along that they were not in a hurry to sign Quinn because the plan was to basically sit him this year ALA Carson Palmer. The escalators based on starts won't be hit for his rookie season and the reports from the talks were that the rookie start clause was at 50% of the starts so don't expect Quinn to see the field till after the midway point of the season unless its a dire emergency. The signing doesn't change a thing. The plan all along was to bring him around slowly. The rookie start escalator clause almost assures Quinn won't be starting till later in the year, if then. The big news is the Browns got next year's first round pick a year early, already signed. Next year when other rookies are holding out/learnig their team's offense/getting over rookie jitters, the Browns will have Quinn signed/sealed/delivered with a full year under his belt and he'll know the offense and more than likely will have a few starts under his belt. The pick given up will be in the fifteen range because the Browns are looking at 7 wins. NO QB in next year's draft compares to Quinn at this point. If someone emerges they won't last till the fifteen slot. This is a bargain for the Browns because they won't allow him to hit his escalator clauses unless they are sure he's looking good enough to earn the bonuses so it takes away the uncertainty of paying out huge bonuses to an untested rookie. Oh and even then, the money is well below a top ten rookie QB because the signing bonus is less than $10 million. JaMarcus Russell is seeking a $35 million guaranteed signing bonus whereas Quinn was in under $8. HUGE WIN for the Browns.

Well, if they didn't draft quinn they would have drafted a QB next year anyway in the 1st. So next year instead of having a rookie QB, they will have Quinn with a year of experience under his belt. So basically it puts them a year ahead of schedule.

What makes you think that the Browns will win 7 games. They went 0-6 in the division last year. They are still the worst team in the division. At best you would think they'd go 1-5 in the division. If they do that they have no shot at 7 wins.

They actually have an Oline this year, they have a great group of LBs, have some good CBs, impoved the Dline, Winslow is more recoved from his injuries than he was last year (dude didn't even practice during the week), edwards is 2 years removed from ACL surgury, Lewis is in great shape and motivated and Frye won't be sacked 50+ times this year.I may have missed a few.

Who is saying there will be a shuffle? I'm saying the situation has improved. But hey, even if there is one, there was a shuffle last season. Edwards still ended up with 880/6.Look at all of the other positives, first:-Vastly improved OL-Improved RB-Another year removed from injury for Edwards-And yes, a better QB situationLet's talk about those QBs:-Carlie Frye played just 7 games before last season, I'd say him having 14 games + another training camp under his belt is a positive.-Derek Anderson was a rookie; I'd say having him with a full season in the league is a positive.-Quinn competition is a definite positive. If he comes in there at the end of next season, I wouldn't expect much decrease in prodcution from WRs.

:own3d: I don't think the Browns will even make the playoffs, but they have really improved themselves. I don't know why this is being overlooked so much.

Two years ago which team won the Super Bowl? Two years ago which team had the best record in the NFL?Two years ago which team won six games in the same division as the team with the best record and the Super Bowl winning team? Of that six win teamt:- they had a rookie head coach- they had a rookie GM- they had a rookie third round QB- they didn't get their top three drafted rookie WR starting till after the midpoint of that season and he only had one start before he landed on IR- they didn't have their top notch TE because he got injured in a motorcyle accident before the year started and landed on IR- they didn't have stud rookie LB Kamerion Whimbley- they didn't have solid starting LB D'Qwell Jackson- they were completely revamping their defense from a 43 to a 34 to suit the defensive coaching expertise of their new head coach so they had to scrap their entire linebacking corps and defensvie line- they had an older gimpy starting CB in Daylon McCuteon who kept ending on IR- their top free agent signing that year CB Gary Baxter ended up on IR- they didn't have top flight rookie OLT Joe Thomas- they didn't have a the best free agent OG in Eric Steinbeck starting right next to him- they didn't have CB Gary Baxter coming off of IR and cleared to practice/play- they didn't have their top free agent from the previous year OC La Charles Bently coming back ready to contributeBut two years ago they won six games. Now they sign a QB who has more talent coming in than the incumbents and they also have a rookie CB who has looked great in camp and is first on the depth chart and should be starting from day one to pair with the excellent CB who took over last year. And they have two of the best yound safeties in the game not to mention have firmly installed their defensive system and added depth to their linebacking corps and offensive line. It is no stretch to see them winning one more game this year. You say the Browns have NO SHOT to win seven games. You haven't got a clue of what you are talking about. I know the team inside and out and you obviously don't.

Outch! This goes to prove that most people don't have a clue what they are talking about unless it is their team. Me, being a Browns fan, told everyone they would be much improved this season. If you are a homer and know your team, you likely know a bit more than the average football fan that gets opinions from ESPN based on how a team did previously.
