The Brady Quinn era starts tonight in Cleveland or at least it's supposed to. I'm not sure I can remember a group of fans who wear a backup QB's jersey around more than I've seen Brady Quinn's.

I'm wondering what the Sharks think of Quinn and what his career will end up looking like. Obviosly, this isn't something that's going to be decided tonight, it's going to be a work in progress. However, a 300 yard night with a couple TD's and a win will go a long way in anchoring this guy as the permanent starter for Cleveland.

With the Aaron Rodges saga, I was in support of Aaron Rodgers mainly because in the brief times I did see him, I saw talent. I saw things at the professional level that made me believe he was going to be a success, hence the thread I started before week 1 about the Aaron Rodgers bandwagon and the predictions inside.

I'm going the other way on this one. I don't think Brady Quinn is going to be the real deal. When I've seen him play at the professional level, I've seen inaccuracy on his throws and a guy that looked to me not comfortable in the pocket. The Browns are an old school team and have some great fans and deserve for this guy turn out great, so please don't take it as a knock on the Browns......I said something similar when Drew Henson came to Dallas, so the team of the player I'm evaluating really doesn't matter to me.

Tonight, Quinn goes up against one of the worst defenses in the league and he's at home. Again, I don't think he needs to throw for 300 yards and 3 Td's to be labeled a success tonight.....but he should be able to look pretty solid, like he's got some game. The Browns are favored to win the game and probably should do so IF Quinn plays well.

I don't think he does. I think he struggles, his numbers will be lower than most would expect against a Bronco defense and Cleveland will have a full blown QB controversy once the Brady Quinn mancrush wears off.

You never really know with an unproven QB until you know. Things I like about Quinn:

- First round pedigree.

- Great college career. Even more impressive when you consider that Notre Dame's offense fell of a cliff as soon as he left.

- Had a full season and a half to sit on the bench and learn.

I think he's been put in position to be successful. Whether or not he has the goods remains to be seen. I think he's probably a better QB than Anderson, though he might not be able to match the sucess of Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, or Trent Edwards.

Yes. He will show the Raiders that they should have taken him instead of Russell.

(They should have taken Joe Thomas, but that's another discussion)

Calvin would've been a good pick too. Pretty much anyone but an underachieving project QB with a rocket arm would've been a better pick.

Brady Quinn will be a good QB. He'll make probowls, imo.

Though i don't know why one would expect very good numbers tonight. He's only had first team reps for 3 days, and its his first NFL regular season start in his career.

Things he has going for him:- solid preseason stats- has taken plenty of reps in practice over the last 2 seasons- experience playing in the national spotlight- all his receivers are (relatively) healthy- Broncos are one of the worst passing defense in the leagueI think 250/2/1 isn't out of the question. I don't think he can sustain those numbers against better defenses, but I think it would be wise to grab him tonight to trade him tomorrow.

they also lost two great college receivers in maurice stovall and jeff s.

I've thought Quinn was overrated since seeing him first-hand against Georgia Tech his final season. ND actually won the game, but that had more to do with Reggie Ball's awfulness and some stupid penalties than Quinn. Quinn didn't seem to react at all well to pressure and didn't seem like a very accurate passer.

I really don't get the move.... Sorry if this is a hijack, but why start Quinn in this game? Does he really give the Browns a better shot at winning the game this week than Anderson? In essence does Romeo think his team has no shot at the playoffs this year and willing to call it a season by going to a younger more in experienced pivot in their biggest game of the year?

I don't understand the move. Quinn is basically a rookie and the team is playing in a must win game to have any chance at making playoffs. It just does not make sense to me.

They stuck with Anderson and it wasn't working. I feel like they have at least as good of a chance to win tonight's game with Quinn in there. That's just one Browns fan's opinion.

Is anyone else starting Quinn tonight, like I am, even though you have better options, just because you are so excited to see the guy get out there? In his first start it's obviously a tremendous risk, but that DEN defense really is awful, so who knows...

Anderson has not been great, but I think at this stage in his young career its a little to early to give up on him. I mean I don't see them at practice and don't know what Quinn has to offer, but it seems a bit to early to pull a guy coming off of a pro bowl year and still learning the game himself.

Yea, well that's a bit of a chicken and egg thing. Were they great because of Quinn or was Quinn great because of them?Stovall has been outed as a very mediocre talent in the NFL.

Samardzija was a playmaker, but someone still had to throw him the ball.

I'm not sure Quinn would have had much of a career had he been thrown into the fire early, but after a year and a half of sitting he's much better prepared to succeed. Looks serviceable so far.

Well I was going to dump him for Orton after this game but I have cancelled that waiver move. Kid looks good for his first game

I was mildly impressed. I realize it was against a poor and hurt defense, but he was poised, SMART, and generally accurate. He showed some mobility but kept his eyes downfield and looked to throw first...something you rarely see from a first year starter.

I've heard a lot of guys knocking his arm strength, but it seemed good to me, average at least.

I think he'll be a good starter.
