My optimism comes from the San Diego players. Usually when a backup is in there, you get the token lines like "he'll get the job done" or "so and so has enough talent to be in there." The way the SD offense players talk about you would think he's the next LT. They really like the guy and think he'll do more than just cover the position. I think we saw some of what he can do last week but I don't think that's his ceiling.
Remember when you first saw Charles or Foster a few years back and you said " yea that guy's going to be a stud." I think this is who we are looking at here.

and thanks for starting this thread so early - just sorry I didn't see it earlierI don't know yet. Oakland is always a tough game for SD. Oakland has had a pretty crappy schedule, too so I'm not sure we know what to expect. They started off in NY. Go home for one week against the Texans. Then back to the East coast again for NE. Week after that they play in London. Now they've had a bye and a new coach. With all the players in "Start over" mode.
I sure hope you're right, but I don't know what to expect. I'd feel a lot better if I knew Fluker was healthy.

Oak needs to be more concerned with a hot handed Rivers/Gates/Royal...not to mention Allen who burned em for last year for 140+/2....they are aware of Oliver potential but I'm sure it's the least of their concerns...until he starts getting the ball and torching them but it will be too late then. It's not like McCown is back there and they can just stack the box...

Right now I have Williams and Oliver as my RB's, and Golden Tate as my flex. With Shady on the bench. Subject to change, but I don't think it's really a reach. I'll be pulling for Shady regardless, as I desperately want to see that line come together for the 2nd half of the year, but the matchups and evidence so far have me leaning this way. I love how SD uses Oliver type backs (Sproles, Woodhead), especially around the goal line. And Williams getting all the carries against the Eagles D. Both are juicy. I could be wrong. Could be Shady's coming out party.

I have Jordy Nelson, Alshon Jeffrey and Emmanuel Sanders as WR's. All 3 are must starts. So for me if I have Oliver and Williams in it comes to McCoy vs. Golden Tate. With no Calvin, Tate has to get 10 targets, so as of now I'm rolling with Tate over McCoy. I sorta hope I win the game and am wrong on McCoy - I need him to get going.
