Of course I had him on my bench today. And I didn't watch the game. Pretty impressive numbers as a rookie. Was this a one week wonder, or can we expect this guy to be at least a legitimate WR2 the rest of the year?

I want to see whether the saints offense is a roulette wheel or not before I consider more than a boom/bust guy. I am not being Meachem'd ever again

I started him this week...this just feels different to me than Henderson/Meachem/et al. When Stills comes back, it should be interesting. I'll keep starting him, however, as I'm fine w/ variance at my flex; at least he was huge weekly upside.

No one cares about your lineup
Pretty sure he didn't start this thread to tell you about his lineup as much as he was starting a discussion about Cooks, how he looked, and if he was legit going forward. thanks for your contribution though, can't wait to hear from you again, you seem to have a wealth of knowledge. Maybe you won't be in such a bad mood next week when your team doesn't get beat because the guy you were playing started cooks.

1. I did 2 searches; I typed in "Cooks", and I typed in "Brandin". I didn't find anything other than comparison threads- Cooks and somebody else.

2. I think it's legitimate to start new threads once the actual season starts. Things change.

3. Why the #### do you care? Drop the hostility once in a while.

You suck at the search feature. It has 8 pages and is on the first page. It is not legitimate to start a separate thread to discuss a player when there is already one.

OK, so I suck at it. Again, why do you care so much? My intention was to get some info, that's all. You obviously despise me, you've made that clear again and again. Why even enter the thread?

I feel like this venom is a bit unwarranted. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the game today but wouldn't mind a fresh thread to discuss today's specific performance.

I would have called out anyone who started a duplicative thread like this that I noticed. Since you have almost 80k posts and do this repeatedly in the FFA, you do not get any leeway. This is a prime example of the downward spiral of these boards.

jesus tim you've been on this board forever and a day. figure it out man.

There's a lot of anger thrown out so easily on FBG boards. Hence why I rarely post. Slap, while your intention is good, your delivery could be different. This place used to be fun, now it's not. Attacks are much of the reason why. :(

I'm with you. Been here since before day one when they changed over the original board. I don't post much, mostly because of this.

This the duplicate topic, or this the senseless crybaby stalking and #####ing?

I just assume not read through 8 pages of mostly preseason nonsense. A new thread is warranted since the season has started, and those who think otherwise should keep posting worthless comments to the 8 page thread to see if you can get it up to 9 pages of worthless junk. From what I've seen and read, it won't take you long.

I for one did not watch the game either and am interested in hearing from someone who did watch the game to give us their take on what they saw. will this sort of production continue into next week and after Stills gets back, or will defenses learn how to shut him down better in the coming weeks.

He's the new Lance Moore. Saints will go back to Stills once he's back you would think. Seemed like there was a lot of Cooks in the slot which is usually Jimmy Graham's favourite position.

For the record, I don't think that repetitive threads are the reason that these boards are spiraling downward (if indeed they are.) It's ugliness, ripping other people, rude insults and the like. I try to avoid doing that.

I played him in one league today (with return yards) got over 20 pts for me (.1 for 1st down) He is a rookie and I am sooo glad i got him everywhere I could. return yards or not. got me over 15 (non ret yds) on my bench in another.

He looks awesome, really awesome. Runs great routes, goes after the ball etc.

The only small complaint is that he seemed to take some wicked shots after a couple of catches. I guess because he is fearless he puts himself out there. With his smaller frame I could potentially see this being a problem. Still wish I had reached for him now.

Brandin Cooks looked very good and was a major factor in TE offensive game plan. Brees only TD pass was a rub route to Cooks on the first read. He was also targeted again in the end zone. He was also the Saints punt returner although he fair caught the only two punts the defense forced.

I like Stills as well, but Cooks was more dynamic I his first game yesterday than Stills was a year ago. Cooks also displayed good vision on an end around that gained 18 yards.

Per Rotoworld:

Brandin Cooks caught seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown and rushed once for 18 yards in the Saints' Week 1 loss to the Falcons. Analysis: Cooks exploded for 86 total yards and a score in the first half, but was bottled up after the break. The Saints emphasized getting Cooks the ball early, lining him up all over the formation and getting him an early carry on an end around. If that usage continues, Cooks could develop into a borderline WR2 in New Orleans' high-powered attack.

What changed in the 2nd half? Did the defense adjust to him, or did the offense just have a different plan?

Not sure, but remember, the Saints were playing with a lead, and my guess would be also had far less TOP in the 2nd half.

Looked good but remember Stills was inactive
who? Lol cooks deserves to be the wr 1 or 2 going forward. ..
Yeah, I'm not sure where this is coming from. Stills is a good player, but he's gonna hurt Joe Morgan and Meachem, not Cooks. For a rookie in his first game, Cooks was awesome yesterday.
yes he was my friend. doesn't play at all like a rookie but more like a Steve smith in his prime... Can cut on a dime and has awesome hands... Brees was targeting him in the endzone and got picked off didn't get the ball their in time but imagine he had close to 90 and 2 tds.... that's a nice start 7-8 on 8 targets... Looks to be heavily involved in a high passing volume team.

Conversations, positions, facts, opinions are established in previous threads; but because you are too lazy.......actually I think you are a control freak. Just do a ####### a search and carry on the conversions already established.

Kind of annoying to come into a thread expecting evaluations and analysis and only getting #####ing about the thread being a duplicate. How does that benefit anyone? Once it gets noticed, it will get merged, and alas we will have one thread again. The only problem now is that the merge will include a bunch of nonsense about whether this thread is appropriate or not.

I'd also like to know about why he was so much quieter in the second half. Did he catch the D by surprise in the first half? Was he simply not part of the game plan in the second? Was his usage a function of the score? He looked electric where I saw him in the first half, and that suggests to me that, even if the D starts to key in on him more, he'll be able to break coverages and be a borderline WR2/3 on a weekly basis. Is there any evidence to suggest he'll be the #2 fantasy skill player on the Saints behind Graham? Or is he still behind Colston in that regard?

To me, and this is based on a very limited evaluation, he looks like he'll get Sproles-level usage with Moore/Meachem-level upside/big-play potential.

Brandin Cooks is very fast, has good hands and runs sharp routes. I think he's every bit the mismatch for opposing defenses as Jimmy Graham and no doubt Payton/Brees will take advantage of these mismatches better than anyone else. If you're trying to compare Cooks to Sproles, Moore, Henderson, Still, etc., your doing it all wrong. So long as he stays healthy I think he's a safe bet to finish as a top 24 WR in PPR.

Cooks will continue to be a matchup nightmare. The Saints will get the ball in his hands and good things will happen.
