Brandon Jacobs Extended (1 Viewer)

Seems like a very good contract from the Giants perspective.

Very happy with the signing. Good work Reece! :banned:

Looks like a pretty nice contract to me especially considering he was going to be franchised. Marion Barber got 16 million guaranteed and 26.5 million over the 1st four years of his contract. This isnt far from that.

NYG Homer/Fan... def thought he could have gotten more in free agency with all the other recent RB deals like Turner, MBIII as well as Ryan Grant to a lesser extent. Great signing by the Giants, got a great player for a decent price. Very good job by Reese.

his deal looked very similar to Turner and Barber imo seeing as how those guys are probably never going to see the cash the last couple years of their contract.

I was hoping the Lions hired Reese as their GM. Reese did a great job saving the Giants money.

Great signing by Reese. If you get a culture of guys that want to be here, want to be together, and are willing to take a good deal but not get greedy, it will really help sustain the team over the long run.

While RBs are interchangeable to some degree on other teams and relatively easy to replace as compared to othrer positions, there is not one other player that brings what Jacobs does. He may not be the best RB, but the guy has a huge impact beyond his carries and stats alone.

:yes:I'm also loving the fact that Jerry has 3 of the first 60 picks! Getting a healthy Osi back is a huge plus too!Go Big Blue!
Amen to that brother! We all know how draft picks are golden with a guy like Jerry, this guy will sniff out talent with the last pick of the draft. He's going to do some damage this off-season. BTW, if for some reason you don't attend one of your games and looking for a potential buyer for a game or two... I'm your man

Well said. Jacobs is not the best back, but there is no better back at being physical and picking up the blitz. In the NFC East, having that physical player has a lot of value. Now, if the coaching staff would rely on that a little more we should be OK. Gillbride tries to be so unpredictable, I find him predictable (if that makes sense). He is not a bad OC, but I think he had a terrible game against the Eagles and he sometimes needs to run the ball more IMO.

As much as I don't want to see the Giants act intelligently, I have to commend them on this move. They tagged Jacobs to protect their interests but moved quickly in good faith to get him locked up to a deal that, presumably, works for both sides. Jacobs gets more financial security than he would've tagged for a season, but the Giants don't have to commit much more than they were willing to with the tag IF Jacobs should become expendable in a season or two. Otherwise they have a perfectly reasonable annual contract to a guy who plays a big role in their offense.

Well done.

:hifive: I'm still waiting to find out where I'm going to be in the new stadium. I'm a 10-year vet with my tix, but I can only keep my fingers crossed at this point.
