Brandon Jacobs OUT (2 Viewers)

So do any staff members have any insight on who is the RB to pickup here? Droughns? Ward? Need to act quick ...
watching the game any? ward is playing rb while droughns is coming in as fb to block..
Thanks Donk. Why the attitude? :goodposting: Many folks were under the impression that Droughns was the RB2.
I tried to tell you guys that Ward was the guy Here
And this was the first response:
Madden should stick to selling football games.
:goodposting: :goodposting:

Jacobs is out for the night with a "sprained knee" with more tests scheduled.
not for nothing, he looked like GARBAGE, anyways..Big and lumbering..he looks slower than his advertised speed. I didn't think he'd even get 800 rush yards this season, might have to cut that down to about 500..he's pathetic.

Dude, there's prescription medication out there that can help you with these feelings.

While it looks like Ward is the likely replacement for Jacobs, bear in mind that Droughns had practiced as FB and they had no one else prepared to play FB. So, with a week to prepare, the staff may decide to move Droughns to RB if they feel they need him there more.

While Ward did well and is the likely starter, the fact that Droughns continued at FB in the game doesn't rule out the possiblity of a readjustment of duties for the next game.

From Rotoworld:

Early indications are that Brandon Jacobs sprained his MCL Sunday night, an injury that should keep him out roughly three weeks.

It's almost safe to get off the ledge. He will undergo an MRI Monday to make sure, but the Newark Star-Ledger says preliminary tests indicate the worst case scenario was avoided. Derrick Ward is expected to start in Jacobs' place in the mean time.

Better watch out, wasn't there some clown on here guaranteeing Jacobs would be a top 15 or so RB in any scoring system and badgering folks into sig bets?

Ya gotta figure the Giants will bring a FB in this week for a look. They will have roster spots, one of(if not the) the cheapest positions salary wise in the NFL......it'd be too weird for them not to.

Coughlin just said, "Jacob's is an MCL. That's all I know." :bag:
Definition:Medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury is a stretch, partial tear, or complete tear of the ligament on the inside of the knee. Alternative Names:Knee injury - medial collateral ligament (MCL); MCL injury Considerations:The medial collateral ligament (MCL) extends from the upper-inside surface of the shin bone to the bottom-inside surface of the thigh bone. The ligament stabilizes the joint on the inside of the knee.Causes:The MCL is usually injured by pressure placed on the knee joint from the outside. It is often injured at the same time as an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury .
Symptoms of a medial collateral ligament injury tend to correlate with the extent of the injury. MCL injuries are graded on a scale of I to III. Grade I MCL TearThis is an incomplete tear of the MCL. The tendon is still in continuity, and the symptoms are usually minimal. Patients usually complain of pain with pressure on the MCL, and may be able to return to their sport very quickly. Most athletes miss 1-2 weeks of play. Grade II MCL TearGrade II injuries are also considered incomplete tears of the MCL. These patients may complain of instability when attempting to cut or pivot. The pain and swelling is more significant, and usually a period of 3-4 weeks of rest is necessary. Grade III MCL TearA grade III injury is a complete tear of the MCL. Patients have significant pain and swelling, and often have difficulty bending the knee. Instability, or giving out, is a common finding with grade III MCL tears. A knee brace or a knee immobilizer is usually needed for comfort, and healing may take 6 weeks or longer.
 nice. thanks.

This is just another instance of people not wanting to believe that a player without name recognition can actually be worth something.

Nice shot.

I guess Ward is the hot pickup this week, but not in 5 of 6 of my leagues. I picked him up in 5 leagues on Thurs. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
On a whim, I picked up Ward 1 minute before our waivers locked Thursday. :useless: Didn't start him of course and he scored more points than my first round pick. :pickle:

Giants fans are ignorant...
I thought he looked decent before he was hurt. Jacobs had 1 more rushing yard than Tomlinson did yesterday.

Correction: I picked him up in 6 of 6 last Thurs. For some reason I didn't think I had picked him up in the Champagne Classic League. Ward has talent, but injuries of his own and non-opportunity has prevented him from showing it. Now he is front and center on the stage, so now is his chance to show what he can do.

this coming from the same guy who told us Portis would suck this year.
I've been the world's biggest Portis supporter this offseason, but give the guy a break. He expressed an opinion, and through ONE GAME, he's wrong. One game of a wrong opinion doesn't invalidate him from making other posts. Don't make me talk about your history. It's not pretty.

Droughns was getting RB#2 carries during the pre-season... I wouldn't forget about him just yet.
Droughns getting the RB2 carries during the pre-season may have something to do with his relegation to RB3. Ward got RB2 carries in a regular season game and put up RB1 numbers. Barring an injury to Ward, I think it's safe to say Droughns will not be a factor from a fantasy perspective this year.

 at "Correction"You seem to think we cared about your first update on leagues you have Ward. Update: We don't.Now back to your regularly scheduled program (which seems more and more to consist of self-back patting and other worthless nonsense). :D

Tiki pointed out during the game that Ward has been injury prone his career... and he would know just as much as the team traineer... I'm just saying; don't dismiss Droughns yet.

fixed. Droughns will not be the RB this year. He will be at the FB spot were he belongs.

Is Ward worth a roster spot rather than Jerious Norwood? Ward looked pretty good and Norwood wasn't sniffing the field.

Cecil was just on my local radio station here in Denver (AM950 the Fan) and he reported his source close w/ the Giants say it's more severe, season ending type. FWIW. And yes I drank the Jacob juice, 3 times (leagues). Sounds sick, but you get it.

Good update here. Thanks.

My leagues blind bidding waivers may explode! With a 100 budget what would youg guys pay for Ward? Is he the type of RB that you blow the load for?

Holy crap. It didn't look too bad at first, but after watching the front and rear views on replay, the knee got bent at a pretty bad angle. Not sure that the MCL could take that much stretching without tearing.

Here on talk radio in NY there is speculation it could be an ACL but it's pure speculation at this point.

The information I posted earlier from WebMD (or a site like it) says the MCL (which Coughlin already confirmed it is) usually always accompanies ACL damage. That is probably why there is speculation.

I agree, it's a long season & far too soon to consider any opinion right or wrong.

It was the Cowboys D, game 1, in Dallas, prime-time Sunday night. The Giants as a whole held there own a helluva lot more than I expected.

This was a big concern with Jacobs going in. Could a freakishly big back come in a serve as a 20+ carry back in the NFL .

It may seem premature but I think the verdict is out that in fact Jacobs cannot carry a full-seasons load.

Hes so big corners and safties are murdering his knees and LB's are getting clean shots on him.

As a compliment 3rd n short/Goalline guy I think hes great.

But ...If he could swallow his pride and play FB he could be one of the best at the position ever IMO.

I like Bradshaw as a darkhorse later in the season.

Giants RB Jacobs out 3-5 weeks with sprained MCL

NFL.com Wire Reports

The NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss three to five weeks.

Jacobs suffered the injury in Sunday night's loss to the Cowboys in Dallas.

Until we see a report with the MRI results, I think it's all still speculation. This would certainly be the best case scenario at this point.

Sorry for nit picking, but often and usually always are two totally different meanings.
The MCL is usually injured by pressure placed on the knee joint from the outside. It is often injured at the same time as an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury .
Yes, if the MCL is torn the thing to look for on the MRI is if the ACL is still intact. But there are plenty of times were the MCL is sprained and the ACL is not torn. For example: Travis Henry this year and Cedric Benson and Matt Hasselbeck last year. There are plenty of others, but those stick out into my mind first.
