Brandon Jacobs & Schedule - Ranked 8th in my league (1 Viewer)

Jacobs is currently ranked 8th in my league, but has the 2nd toughest run schedule from here on out, with 6 of his remaining games coming against teams with no less than the 8th best run def.

With that said, many of us should be considering trading him (for me w/ his handcuff (Ward)) while he's high.

The easiest guy for me to grab at this point would be S. Jackson. . .problem is I can't take the hit of Jackson not playing, and unless you guys know otherwise, I just can't see him being reliable to out perform Jacobs in weeks 14-16. Jackson has a nasty sweet schedule, but the team is still rough and Jackson cant get back on the field yet.

Other canidates that are less likely, but Jacobs is currently ranked higher than in my league are as follows. But I will probably make a pass on all 3.

Tomlinson - Nearly impossible to pry away

R. Brown - Possible, but not likely, and smoke-a-dope is on another roster.

Westbrook - Nearly impossible to pry away, either way he's has some injury issues.

Other considerations, Unprovens (less than 1 year as a starter), ranked close or below, that would be possible because of a "lesser" name.

Slaton

Forte

Chris Johnson

I have concerns of all these guys running out of gas, and all 3 have QB issues in some way, but all 3 are projected as being my 8th-10th best rb's in the league from here on out.

Now my question comes in. . . .out of all of those, where would you make an offer straight across w/ out risking your season? Jacobs is a comfortable player at this point. . .pretty much locked for 50 yards and a td each week, or something similar point wise.

Am I missing any other players?

Thoughts?

Yeah, sorry. . .I really wasnt trying to make this an AC thread. It's kinda in the middle. . .but I see how maybe I should have it moved. My appologies. If a mod feels it should be. . .please move to the AC forum.

I know how irritated some of us get with an AC post showing up in here

Ah it's borderline; I'm just a ##### like that.Discussion about selling Jacobs high wouldn't necessarily be ACF stuff. I think Jacobs will continue to be pretty solid but that his value will drop somewhat, so I don't blame you for wanting to sell. I just sold him in the 2 leagues where I owned him. He's top 10 in non-PPR formats currently and I think he finishes in the 12-14 range, personally. The Giants are running on everyone so I think he'll still get his scoring chances.

All that said; I doubt you'd get any of the guys you mentioned straight up. Most Jackson owners drafted him top 5; I can't see them letting go now for Jacobs. Ditto Westbrook, Tomlinson.

Without adding anything to the deal; I'd say Slaton & Brown would be doable. Miami's got a better schedule than Houston, but Houston has been showing a real willingness to keep Slaton involved in the passing game. He's got 8 catches against both TEN and MIN this season that kept his numbers respectable. He faces TEN in week 15, so watch for that. This week Houston plays the Ravens, next week would be a good time to see about picking him up. Despite the Slaton hype, some guys still don't know what they've got in Slaton. He's the #2RB since being named the starter week 3. If you can pry him away for Jacobs, I'd do it.

If you could get any of those other players for Jacobs I'd do it in a heartbeat; you'll likely have to add something else of value though. No harm in tossing some offers out.

The intrigue stems from Westy's potential receiving yardage compared to Jacobs cap on carries being around 20........ I pulled the trigger and moved Jacobs and Schaub (he he- last week before the injury) for Westy to a friend in need- I felt I gave him a pretty good deal. We'll just have to wait and see if Westbrook stays healthy........

I don't see that much out there that you can get for a playoff run unless the Bush owner is getting anxious. I might keep McFadden on the radar as it remains to be seen if the Raiders are going to give him the ball 30 times to see what he can do, as well as the fact that his toe seems to be limiting him from playing.

I turned down offers of Tgoz/D. Mason and C. Benson/Cotchery for Jacobs from the same co-owners tonight.

I told them don't bother offering me another trade again if they're in the league next year.

I took a gamble myself this season, and I might be ridiculed for it, but I feel like you have to take chances if you want to win your league. All the rbs you mentioned are fine and dandy, but its a lot tougher prying those guys away from their owners since they've been doing well for them. People don't trade stud rbs away that easily unless they're desperate at another position you can provide. However, there is one guy you can trade for I believe.

I traded Jacobs for Joseph Addai. (I already own Dominic Rhodes). I feel it's important though that you get both rbs since Addai is a pretty fragile.

Addai's been hurt, he's had a real tough schedule. However, he's still the rb for the top offense with Manning as his qb. He gets the majority of the carries (as witnessed in his first game back against NE). He has a tough matchup this week against Pitt, but after that it gets a lot easier.

It goes Pitt, Houston, San Diego, Cle, Detroit, Cin, Jax. His final game is against Tenn, so if you have your playoffs week 17, you'd prob have to reconsider.

:lmao: I love guys like you that think they are above trade offers like this. Who cares? Anyone that takes it personally needs to find a new hobby.

I was offered Wes Welker for Romo. Should I have cried like you, or got all mad? Lifes too short, get over yourself, it's fantasy football for crying out loud.

I considered Addai as well, but with the upside of my roster I currently have, I need more security. I have a solid team. . .no complaints there.Addai and Rhodes are in for a 1/2 season of RBBC I think. . . .you might be better of getting Torrain at this point (thats a joke because of the Denver rb thingy. . .ok. . . .yeah. . . .), Anyway. . .I get your risk reward there though. It's a good move if you are flirting with being out of the playoffs or having a weak team and need some pop, but Seems like most of you are in a sim thought.Jacobs = security with light upsideMoving him will be near impossible unless you want the injury risk of Addai or Jackson, and owners with a better RB than those 2 probably wont bite.

Just curious, who is the rb with the toughest schedule?

You are right, it is a high risk high reward move. The thing is I should make playoffs regardless. However, I'm aiming to win my league and the first place team has an unbelievably stacked team.

I actually think Addai will get the majority of the carries (as proven last year when Kenton Keith was relegated to the bench after running well) and also as proven per the recent New England game where Rhodes got only 4 carries. Also his oline is a lot healthier now and more importantly so is Manning. Yup, he is an injury risk which is why I mentioned you should make sure you get Rhodes also.

I also think it is Jacobs who is in trouble of having a few of his carries taken away. The schedule's a lot tougher, and when the Giants are down, they turn to Ward for 3rd down situations. Jacobs will get the goallines of course. But I figured that schedule's way too difficult for Jacobs to get significant carries. Jacobs is best when the Giants are beating up on weak teams. Then they just bring in Jacobs and he finishes them off.

I actually like Ward more than Jacobs based on that schedule. I figure Ward'll have more receptions and more opps to score since he'll be in the game more. But that's just my personal opinion of course and that's why I traded him away.

I've noticed that my league is pretty quiet about the trade. I don't know if its because they fear my team or if its because they're waiting for it to fail so they can give me a lot of grief. Probably the latter.

We'll see at the end of the year I guess.

I love guys like you too... let's hook up sometime. And FYI, I had trade negotiations go sour earlier in the year with the same owners... I'm not mad... it's just a waste of time.

I think it's important to remember that Jacobs surely would have more carries if the Giants weren't continually in big lead positions. Last game was a good example of Ward taking over after the game was in hand.

Tougher games might actually lead to more carries, balancing out lesser yards per carry against those teams.

that's hilarious. this guy in my league was so offended because someone offered him Michael Pitmann for Kurt Warner. He began to unload his team to players in that owner's division intending to make it more difficult for him to make the playoffs!!! :excited: :stalker:  i feel like i'm baby-sitting a bunch of drama queens

I think this is the case....the games are going to start getting a lot closer, the weather is going to get worse and their schedule down the stretch seems to indicate they will need to grind these games out. From what I've watched, Ward has gotten the majority of his yards in passing formations when the defense is making sure they aren't getting beat down field, or later in the game when they are way ahead. I think there are going to be a lot more opportunities for Jacobs to grind out the clock, and some third and fourth quarter yardage in the coming weeks....as long as the Giants def keeps playing well and keeps them in games. I think they have purposely kept his carries low so he is primed and ready for the stretch run, when their schedule is the most difficult. This may be wishful thinking but I don't see how you don't use Jacobs full on at some point.

I traded him away for Ronnie Brown in one league. My other league where I own him there have been no trades and it seems no-one wants to make any.

In this league all of my backs have fairly tough playoff schedules but he is one I think I will be playing at that time regardless.

Giants run the best RBBC in the NFL..Jacobs will always have value but Ward has consistently posted quality stats so his success will continue to diminish the stat line of Brandon Jacobs..

Ward is more versatile, he catches the ball extremely well, he blocks well, etc. As a result, he'll always get a boatload of action, every week..

The bad thing about Jacobs is he doesnt get any receiving yards when he faces a tough run defense. The good thing is no matter who they play he's always a good bet for a TD or 2. I still think he'll put up solid #s down the stretch but I cant see many more 100 yd games.

Cowboys have the toughest from here on out. Obviously Barber is a better back than Jacobs, but is on a team with far less focus.I'm focusing on making a trade for Ronnie Brown today to see what I can do. . . .out side of that, I think it will be best to hold. Especially if you have both Jacobs and Ward. With that combo, you are pretty much bullet proof against injury ruining a playoff run.I also agree that I have noticed that it seems like Bradshaw only comes in during garbage time. . .so maybe tougher games for the giants will lead to more carries for Jacobs and probably Ward. So maybe my projections of his stats declining are a bit off because of that.Good stuff guys

One thing to note about Jacobs during weeks 14-16 is that two of the games are at home, in cold weather where they should be running more. See his stats at home vs on the road (70% of his yards and 6 of his 7 tds)...makes me feel a little better if I still have him at the end of the year.

I dunno how obvious that is. Jacobs is a beast

Jacobs is not the recieving threat Barber is and not as explosive. . . .Jacobs is like a wrecking ball, Barber is more like Dynomite. And Not sure I have seen Jacobs in on 3rd down unless it's 3rd and 3 yards or less.

Not a bad play. Ronnie Brown was another guy I was considering, but his owner was pretty reluctant to part with him. I think if I had Ward and not Rhodes, I would've been more reluctant to trade away Jacobs. One of the top rushing attacks in the league, so you got that going for you. Also, you got Ward in case the Giants clinch the playoffs early. One thing I didn't like from a fantasy perspective was that the Giants use Jacobs extremely cautiously. He is obviously an integral part of their team and they make sure to limit his carries depending on the game situation. Everyone's got different theories and biases about what will happen. Just make sure you go with what your gut tells you. Sometimes, it's better not to overthink things and not make a move. What works for one roster might not work for another. Also, if you have a well balanced league, you can just stand pat and not make high risk movies. A solid team may be all that you need.Good luck!

Traded Jacobs today for Romo. He was desperate for a RB, and really wanted Forte from me, but finally took Jacobs. I also have Barber & SJax (2 keeper league) so I was comfortable moving Jacobs to upgrade my QB position for the playoff run.

Earlier this week I was looking at Jacobs' schedule and decided to see what I could get. Ended up swapping him and M. Harrison for C. Johnson and Wes Welker. I'm thrilled with that.

What do you guys think his Dynasty value is? Better than say Felix Jones? McFadden? I have Chris Johnson, Barber, & Ronnie for the rest of the year and I could use QB help.

Addai's been hurt, he's had a real tough schedule. However, he's still the rb for the top offense with Manning as his qb.
Actually, that would be the 22nd ranked offense, not the top offense. Close, though.
Thanks for the correction. It's nice to see people being so vigilante when it comes to things you write on the internet.I guess I have to spell things out pretty literally for those that don't understand. A potential top 5 offense with Peyton Manning as your qb and a healthy oline. How's that? The Colts have a much easier schedule starting after the Pittsburgh game. If you think they'll be the 22nd ranked offense for the second half of the season starting with Houston next week, that's your prerogative, but I'll be pretty surprised if that happens.
