Brandon Jacobs (1 Viewer)

Not concrete but the most recent news I saw.

(Rotoworld) Multiple sources in the New York area say Brandon Jacobs (knee) is likely to play against the Panthers.Analysis: The Newark Star-Ledger and NY Daily News echo a similar report from NBC's Andrea Kremer. Jacobs, speaking at an event in New York, also told a crowd he would play. It appears the Giants were just being cautious holding the Train out last week. Carolina has a below average run defense and Jacobs will be a borderline RB1 if he starts.

No question in my mind he plays this week... biggest game of the year.

Week 17 means zero either way... he'll sit then, or only play the first 1 or 2 series.

If they lose this week and MIN wins, next weeks game vs MIN is for a first round bye.

Here's the Giants' pre-practice injury report. Grab a coffee and donut because it'll take a while to get through it. The guys in bold won't practice.

RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck)

RB Derrick Ward (ankle)

RB Brandon Jacobs (knee)

WR Domenik Hixon (ankle/foot)

DE Justin Tuck (lower leg)

S Kenny Phillips (concussion)

RT Kareem McKenzie (back)

DT Fred Robbins (shoulder)

OL Rich Seubert (flu)

WR Sinorice Moss (calf)

LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee)

LB Jonathan Goff (hamstring)

Coughlin said Hixon "came up sore again, which was not unexpected." On Jacobs, Coughlin gave the standard, "We'll see."

Saw the above on the blogger, sounds like Jasobs is expected to practice, havent see the resports yet. Ward is a surprise on this list, did not realize he was dinged up.

From Sporting news .. FWIW

Brandon Jacobs (knee) returned to Giants practice Wednesday.

Latest update Dec. 17, 2008 - 12:35 p.m.

Derrick Ward was held out of Giants practice Wednesday with an ankle injury.

And from CBS ..

Brandon Jacobs, RB NYG

News: Giants RB Brandon Jacobs practiced Wednesday, an early sign the big halfback would be back in the lineup this weekend for the NFC showdown against the Panthers. Jacobs missed the game against Dallas last weekend after aggravating his left knee in a game against the Eagles the week before. Jacobs said he pleaded with the team's trainers to play against Dallas and was turned down. "I don't want to plead this week," he said. "There is no choice. I want to go. Whoever I have to talk to in order to get this verdict, that's what I'm going to do. ... I want to be out there to have better chances for our team to win. Whatever I can do to help us win, I'm all for that."
