Brandon Marshall & Eddie Royal Owners (1 Viewer)

After the first two games:

Marshall - 7-61-0

Royal - 5-38-0

It's obvious Kyle Orton is killing these two. So far, they're both producing at about a WR5 level which isn't where either one was drafted. This is arguably one of the most talented WR duos in the league on pace for a combined reception total of under 100 this season. Based on the first two games, it's difficult to envision the situation getting any better for these two.

So what are Marshall and Royal owners going to do going forward? Are they bench bound or does someone have a belief things will get better for them?

Tough to say. Burleson seemed like a viable option for Royal until he turned it around, but if Wallace is the guy - forget about it.

I really have no idea at this point, especially since I have Braylon Edwards as well.

What seemed like a strength two weeks ago (Wayne, Edwards, Royal) has quickly become a giant headache.

They play the Raiders next week so that's pretty much a recipe for disaster just waiting to happen. I'm a Royal owner in a PPR league and he heads to the bench perhaps for the remainder of the season.

I will not panic after two weeks.

Got him in the 7th round and while I hope he puts up borderline WR1 numbers, I have Burleson and Clayton (Tampa) who can fill in quite well as a compliment to Andre Johnson.

Talk to you in a couple of weeks....

Gotta wait it out. The Broncos nightmare hasn't started yet but it's coming. The D is much improved with Nolan but the O sucks ###.

I thought Moreno did some good things today and Buckhalter had a great TD run late. I think the Broncos will be able to run the ball on most teams but at this point it's impossible to believe Orton is going to help Marshall and Royal in any meaningful way.

I'm gonna start Cotchery next week, that's what I'm going to do.
:bag: I wasn't thinking that Royal would end up this useless. Looks like Braylon will end up starting for a while unless Royal picks it up. I selected Royal as my WR3 (kept Braylon/Colston with late picks) thinking that he would either be a nice flex guy (start 3) or help mitigate Edwards not getting back to 2007 form. So far, it looks like neither.

Cry in a corner. And not play him. Scour WW for a reciever with high targets. It's a long season, he may hit a hot streak at some point.

This offense is still trying to find its identity. Wait it out. At some point, their talent should shine through, even with Orton at the helm. Remember that Orton has been wearing a glove on his throwing hand due to the cut on his index finger. The glove comes off next week. Obviously you don't want these guys in your lineup right now, but they should find their stride eventually.

Or it could be like two seasons ago when David Carr killed Steve Smith and like last season when Ryan Fitzpatrick killed T.J. and Chad Johnson. Not sure that can be ruled out given how awful Orton is.

Not much I can do aside from introducing Royal to the bench in both leagues where I own him. Fortunately, he's my #3 in each league, but I did spend a decent pick on him. Not happy at all about this. Need to work the waiver wire and find someone with a pulse, fantasy-wise.

this is my take. The O still doesn't look like it's found it's identity yet. I say it's a great buy-low time.

For those against Orton you do understand that he has games of 243 yards and 263 yards in his two games. Yes Denver has not put it in the end zone as much as they should. I think it is only a matter of time before Marshall and Royal start to see more of the balls.

I feel better about Marshall than Royal. I still have hope in him (Marshall) rebounding with some production.

Was offered Mason for Royal today in a non-PPR league/4 man keeper...something I never would have thought about 2 weeks ago I now have to!

That's great for Orton. But Royal has 5 catches and 38 yds in those games.

I think Marshall will have a better season than Royal

He's a possession receiver while Royal is more a deep threat and we all know what kind of noodle arm Orton has.......

The 243 is a little inaccurate though - he was at about 150 before the flukey 87 yard TD.

Royal was also out of the game with cramps for a whole quarter. The number of targets he got was encouraging. What is the big deal? Royal will get his.

The big deal is he was likely drafted by most people as a WR3 and he's producing at a WR6 clip so far. Yes it's early but thus far there is zero indication things are going to get much better for him. The Broncos are rotating their WRs and Orton hasn't shown any indication yet that he can get the ball to the two players most would agree are his most talented receivers. Again, it's early but I think there's a ample reason for concern for Royal and Marshall owners given the way the season has begun.

Gonna hold a spot for Royal. Drafted him in multiple leagues, but my teams have gotten by with lucky match-ups or great production from other guys. I'm now searching for other options, but he's got a place on my bench until at least week 7 or 8 before I cut bait

I wouldn't dump these guys yet, their tooooo talented for this crap to continue.

I am surprised by Royal's #s, he had a good pre-season.

Holding on Marshall. Let him get acclimated to the offense. He has too much talent. It will eventually shine through. This is easy for me to say though because he is WR3 (start 2) behind Ochocinco and Q.

I am advising my wife who needs WR to buy low.

I was as big on Royal as anyone. I thought he was a lock for 100 catches in Welker's role in McDaniels offense. Looks like Stokely is getting more targets. I drafted Royal as a #2 and a #3. i am playing him one more week. Asamough should be on Marshall most of the game. I am hoping they play Royal off that coverage and get him going.

This is quite simply untrue. Royal did almost all of his damage last season on short to intermediate routes, as is evidenced by his very low YPR.

92 catches for TJ last year with Fitzpatrick, wouldn't say it killed him in a PPR league, which is where all Royals value is. McDaniles is going to be what kills Marshal and Royals value this year not their dump off QB that would rather throw dump off passes all year... Forte had 63 catches last year with Orton at the helm, he likes the small dump off passes.

Although I'm as p*ssed as all other Royal owners, he did have a very good preseason before Orton hurt his finger and he got the most targets last week. He is a good short route runner so I expect he and Orton to get on the same page. Until then, however, he's riding the pine on my teams as he's killed them the first two weeks.

The 92 receptions were great but his yardage was his lowest output since 2002, his YPC was the worst of his career and his TD output was his worst since 2004. He also finished poorly, being held under 5 receptions in three of the final four games he played. Fitzpatrick killed him.

:pokey:

I traded for Royal and paid a hefty price in the offseason to get him. I'm keeping him, but I'm very unhappy.

I'd be really curious to go back two years on this board and see if people were making the same excuses for Michael Clayton after his big rookie year that they are for Royal now. I'll try to do that later tonight.

Maybe Royal isn't as good as what he did last year and he's regressing to his mean.

Apparently if you're the official FBG rankings, you are liking what you are seeing, as both Royal and Marshall increased in value in the Top 250 list Monday.

I guess the number of targets for Royal was encouraging, even if there was little production to go with it?
