Brandon Marshall Owners: What Now? (1 Viewer)

Diamond One

Footballguy
As the Broncos World Continues To Turn, I'm curious to hear what are Brandon Marshall owners who have already drafted are doing with him.

Clearly, for those who have yet to draft, his stock is tanking and should be avoided unless you can get him for very cheap and have a deep bench...

They're not even giving him the playbook to let him learn, per McDaniels.

If you can get any value I'd trade the guy to somebody who thinks they're buying low. Cut your losses, I see nothing coming from him anytime soon.

Sell low, before it gets lower.

I try to avoid selling low at all costs. If you have anyone half-decent that you can start ahead of him, I'd say your best plan is to stash him on your bench. He could be playing by mid-season and you may get more value trading him to a contender then.

mcdaniel so far has showed he learned how to be an iron fisted ##### from bellichek. Sure hope he got some video cheating skillz from him too, or this is gonna be a long season.

Have the broncos done ONE thing right this off season (besides fleece the bears, but that was Pat Bolen)

How could his value be lower? Marshall already tried to backpedal and apologize. He's going to keep going in that direction and by week 5 or 6 he'll be worth starting in your lineup. The most you'll get right now is a number 4 or 5 reciever at best.

You'll get nothing any better then what you could pick up off the waiver wire. If you've got someone else on your bench that you can start then hope they'll get you by for a few weeks. To be honest you should have drafted a solid backup wr or two if you drafted marshall because you know he's a loose nut.

Hold for me...Hope to weather the storm. BTW I only play dynasty.

I agree he's a buy in dynasty leagues if you can get him cheap. But I still think he's a sell in redrafts if you can get something reasonable.

Not this. I doubt his value will ever go lower.

He was recently traded in my keeper. The new owner isnt terribly happy as you can imagine, so I may take a dig and see how cheaply I can aquire him. I am glad I stayed away from this guy in all my re-drafts.

Smug McDaniels will be in a "hot seat" very soon after a couple of weeks of Orton-to-Gaffey
I'll bet he gets longer than a year to succeed. Especially considering how much money Mike Shanahan is being paid the next couple years. I doubt he will be in or on a hot seat after only a year.

Hold or buy in dynasty. In redrafts, I'm becoming intrigued by his value now that he's dropping. If he realizes what an idiot he's being and comes to grips with his situation, he could be fine.

If Chris Henry can turn it around, Brandon Marshall can too. Whether he does or not is up to him.

If that's true, then that means they are actively trying to trade him now. That would be good news. If he gets on a team that doesn't have a rookie HC and that has a better QB than Orton (shouldn't be hard), his value will increase immediately. Again, if this is true, then I think he is a buy low. There is no point in selling if you have him because a talented WR like him will not be sitting on the sidelines all season and his value will never be lower.

If I already owned him, I'd treat it like an injury with an indefinite return date. If you believe he'll be back in play and the productive player you drafted him to be come playoff time, you hold him and hope he is ready to play sooner than later. If you believe this problem will just worsen and he'll put up lousy numbers, or no numbers, all season long, you try to sell him to your league as playoff gold anyway If you have him in dynasty, good luck. The time to trade him was early in the year when I was telling people to unload him. This is who he is. When this problem is resolved, there will just be another. And another. And another. In dynasty, you wait for this all to blow over then hope someone in your league believes he has learned his lesson. Of course he'll always be toxic, but there are a lot of people who will believe.

As much of a head case as Marshall is he is undeniably a talented reciever. I say he's a big buy! Last year his value dropped significantly pre draft due to his 3 game suspension. I grabbed him in the 5th to pair with Andre Johnson and he ended up having his suspension reduced to 1 game. This year I'm hoping he will fall even farther with his antics. I'd be willing to roll the dice for a guy who could easily put up #1 numbers again this year, especially if the price is low enough.

At the very least he's a hold, especially in a keeper, there's no way you can get rid of him now and get near what he's worth.

My main redraft is this weekend. Perfect timing to take advantage of Marshall's hissy fit. I don't know if he's going to be playing for Denver, but I think he will have some value this year. People always over react to these little controversies then miss out on good performing players as a result.

have been offer Roddy for BM and 2010 1st....tempted to cut my losses!
That's a really good deal as Roddy White is almost as talented as Marshall and is in much more stable situation.
and that's why I'm considering the trade!Love BM but at some point will this guy grow up?
I have no idea why you think Marshall will grow up, nor do I have a clue why you haven't frantically accepted that offer. Take it and run.

After the Cutler trade I heard Marshall speak and he sounded mature and like a leader. I believe he is capable of growing up although most people here do not. I know he isn't stupid, but he is still young and is very emotional. Some of the best WRs have the same personality, although to differing degrees: TO, Ochocinco, Moss, Steve Smith, Boldin. The best WRs want to be the focus of an offense--they want the ball. They are highly competitive and aggressive. They play with passion and emotion. All of these can be virtues or vices: Ego can make you work hard to excel, but it can also make you selfish and unwilling to do what is best for the team. Aggressiveness is important to playing tough and with swagger, but it can lead to problems with the law off the field. Passion and emotion help players get pumped up and give that little bit extra on the field, but they can cause these guys to say and do dumb things. All that being said, I think White is likely to be a consistent top 15 WR for at least four or five years.

All is not lost. If Chris Henry can somehow amazingly now sound like the Albert Einstein of football, then Marshall too can wake up.

Henry got ridiculous separation. "We kind of set him up," Henry said. "We ran a play. Jordan hit a tight end in Cover 2 and I guess (OC Bob Bratkowski) saw something upstairs. This time they gave me a double-move. I had to stutter him. He broke like he was going to get the interception. It was a lazy route. I baited him and I took it to the 9 (route). It was open."

Didn't think that guy could even read, let alone come up with that kind of analysis.

so you too are saying take the trade?

Hope for a trade not Denver saying they will listen to offers. I see that as BS.

Trade the guy to Chicago for a D linemen or two.

i'd be buying him. i certainly wouldn't trade him AND the 2010 first-round pick for Roddy White. I wouldn't do BM for White straight up. But that's just me.

i actually may make an offer to an owner who is notorious for not trading his players in an attempt to get him. thinking of offering two firsts for marshall and a couple of picks back. i might through in tj houshmandzadeh, too.

and in what world has chris henry grown up? even if he has comparing marshall and henry is silly. i liked henry a great deal and think he could have become a star. but he hasn't. marshall is one of the 3 best WRs in the NFL.

What's confusing? He thinks the Bears got the short end of the stick in that trade.
Got that part. Wondering why he thinks so.
Exactly. I'm also wondering why he thinks so. It's easy to throw a random statement about this and just present as if everyone thinks so. Orton is horrible. If anything, the Bears fleeced the Broncos in their urgency to get rid of Cutler. And for the record, I'm not a Bears fan but Cutler is a HUGE upgrade under center for the Bears.
