Brandon Marshall (1 Viewer)

Its funny a bunch of guys were saying that TO was done and then Moss was done but they have a few good games and they are studs again. Come on, Marshall is a major talent that will have be very good the rest of the year.
He has 1 TD since week 4. Lets be serious here. Hes a very good WR. Hes not a stud.

There was a point in the year when I (mistakenly) believed my team to have the studliest WR trio in my league--Marshall, Colston, and TJ Housh. Then Palmer got hurt, Marshall stagnated in a huge way, and Colston was supplanted by Lance Moore.

Yay 2008.

:lmao: My 3 WRs are Marshall, Colston, & White. White's the only one I count on every week

Marshall, Wayne, Tony G. Gonzalez is the only one that does anything for me at this point. I could replace the other two with scrubs and get better results.

I'd sure love to see how you think Marshall will all of a sudden become a viable #1 receiver out of nowhere.

Allow me to break this down realistically, since many of you seem to have a bias for or against the guy.

I own Marshall, but I try to keep emotion out of fantasy football as much as possible. Anyone who thinks he isn't the most talented receiver on Denver's roster is kidding himself. I have mad respect for Eddie Royal. Kid is a budding superstar. But he continues to see single coverage every week BECAUSE Brandon Marshall is playing on the same field with him. It's right there on film. Watch the game tape. Defenses continuously roll coverage to Marshall's side with safety help over the top because they fear him so much. Could he improve his hands? Sure. Is he perfect? Of course not. No receiver is. Just understand WHY things happen the way they do. In defensive meetings during the week, you have to pick something on offense to take away. I have watched every snap of every Denver game this year, as I'm sure many of you also have. In every game in which Marshall and Royal have both played, Marshall commands more defensive attention.

All this said, I am extremely disappointed with his lack of production of late. I don't expect single-digit point totals every week from a guy with this kind of ability. But his ability is also the catch-22. There is no way he can be benched. The minute you bench him, he'll go for 200 and 3 in your playoff game. The guy is maddening to own, I grant you. What can you do? Gotta ride it out. :lmao:

So please explain to me how the situation will go from frustration to fruition?

I wish I could. All I know is he is too talented to bench, so I'll continue to start him and go to church before the games.

well said. The opportunities and targets are there.

did anyone else notice he was having trouble stopping, starting, cutting, etc... I think he was having problems with the field, maybe he's not a mudder....

Of course you gotta ride it out. But until he can beat double coverage like some other studs he cant be called a WR1

It should also be noted that when he does get single coverage, lately he has been getting a step on the CB, but Cutler is missing him down the sideline on go routes. It's pretty frustrating. He underthrew him terribly today on one play when Marshall was streaking down the sideline and all Marshall could do on the play was break up an interception.

There also was a play early in the game where Cutler targeted him in the endzone. Marshall got completely manhandled by 2 defenders and no flag. I swear this happens to him once a game. Do the refs have it in for Marshall due to his past off-field issues? :) I agree he is very frustrating to own, but you can't bench him. My only hope is that defenses start keying on Royal now and loosen up the coverage on Marshall. Preferably starting next week and continuing through week 16 so I can win the championship, mkay?

He's also had a handful of plays, at least one or two for long TDs, called back on chop-blocks/other penalties this year if my memory serves correctly. Not trying to make excuses for him(since I have no dog in this fight), but drop another couple TDs and around 100 yards to his totals and I doubt there's anywhere near the hand-wringing about him. He was still in the top 8 WRs in both my non-ppr leagues coming into this week. Another 2 TDs and a about a hundred yards and he'd be tied for WR 4, in one less game than 2 of the 3 guys ahead of him. He's only really had 2 "abortion" type games coming into this week(obviously, this week wasn't great either, but hardly "abortion" level). His demise has been greatly exaggerated, IMO. Unless you drafted him as a top 3 WR, which I expect few did given the suspension crap from back then, you're likely getting what you paid for. If you were expecting him to be WR1 at season's end, then you were likely going to be disappointed no matter what.

Yup. That was a terrible non-call.

I agree that Marshall is getting a ton of attention, and often has 2 to 3 opposing jerseys in his zip code. I am frustrated that he hasn't been as physical as he used to be. He used to be TO like in creating his own separation - haven't seen that lately. I hope he rewards us in the playoffs when it counts. All will be forgiven then.

This is why you don't bench him, he could singlehandedly win you a week. I don't understand why people jump on an off throughout the course of the season - these guys are going to have some bad games - and some good ones. He is a very good receiver, much more than a WR3 people claim after a few sub standard weeks.

Yep.As I was saying.....

per a local newspaper he has been battling a hip injury since preseason that's been getting worse as the season has gone on.

Not too many can beat double when there is no threat of a running game. Denver's running game this year has been very disappointing and there really is no one else on the offense to scheme against.
