The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Braylon Edwards has been charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from an incident that took place outside a Cleveland nightclub before his trade to the Jets.

Edwards allegedly punched a club promoter and friend of Lebron James in the face. James has since accused Edwards of being "jealous" of him and his friends. Edwards doesn't have a history of off-field problems, but he could face some NFL discipline in 2010 if found guilty. That depends. First time offense so maybe the league will wait to see how it plays out in the legal system before doing anything. I'm not sure if they'll suspend him since he's already been charged, or wait until he's either convicted or not.
