Braylon...was it a one game anomaly? (1 Viewer)

Anyone think times will get better for Braylon? He had 9 targets in his big Monday night game against the Fins, had 9 last week against the Bills. I chalked that up to Sanchez having an awful game. No idea on the targets from yesterday...but he registered one catch for 14 yards. This is bugging me more and more becase right after his MNF game, I turned down a swap of Slaton. Now I am kicking myself. Thoughts on if one should sell low or hang on for the ride?

Wow, Slaton would have been a tremendous get for Braylon. I never liked him, and I think at best he will be a wildly inconsistent producer with the odd "big game" a few times per seasonSell.

Here is Braylon's game log from the 2008 season:

Notice that Braylon had only three games where he had over 100 yards receiving last year. What do those three games all have in common? They were all on Monday Might Football. On what day of the week did Braylon have his only big game thise season? You guessed it -- Monday. I'm not sure if it's a case of Braylon only playing hard when the lights are the brightest or it's just coincidence, but it is a trend. You better hope that that the Jets have some more Monday Night games later this season.

I agree that he will always be inconsistent and that he is a sell: but I would wait until he has another good game to do it.

LOL making a post like this all you will see are Braylon haters from Cleveland respond. Just giving you a warning.
They've earned it.Not sure I agree with the notion of dismissing an entire fan base that happened to actually watch the player in question. I think there are certain teams that rarely get watched by anyone except locals. Lions, Browns, Raiders. I always wonder about the other fans yammering about players from these bad teams. Are they DVR'ing and watching every game?

They ran the ball for over 300 yeards and they were playing Oakland. What did you honestly expect? They didn't need Edwards in this game.

Maybe he thought that the Jets would copy Andy Reid's plan for attacking Oakland's defense and pass it 50 times??

This. They led the whole game and didn't need to throw much and when they did throw, Asomugha was all over him and the Raiders were leaving Clowney wide open. I don't think anyone was expected anything from Braylon this week. The high number of targets in the previous two games is promising. Edwards should do well from here on out.

I think it's these two right here. Braylons target should go back to the norm. Which it's kind of hard to judge based on his body of work so far with the Jets but 9 seems reasonable.

I would bet that we see a run the ball first game plan continue for the Jets after the 5 pick performance of two weeks ago. It has been said on several other threads that Rex would prefer to run the ball and protect his rookie quarterback as in Baltimore and Flacco. Next week I am rolling with Marshall and Collie over Edwards.
