Brayton comes off bench to elbow Panther Player? (1 Viewer)

A New York Jets coach isn't the only one throwing up human obstacles on the sideline during punt coverage. FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported on Sunday that the NFL was "quietly investigating" another incident last week involving Tyler Brayton(notes) of the Carolina Panthers, in which the defensive end ran off the bench to elbow an Atlanta Falcons player in the head after he was blocked out of bounds during a punt return

Unbelievable

Saw that last night. Absolutely insane that he got a smaller fine when he makes 2 mill. However, Alosi is a coach, albeit a S&C coach, and should absolutely know better and is held to a different standard than players.

Riiight. Because Strength and Conditioning coaches are known for their brains, not brawn. :towelwave:

Beautifully timed out. Such a nonchalant approach so as not to alert others to his intent.

Oh, I would toss him for a minimum of two games. If heat of combat on the field can generate one game suspensions for unnecessary roughness, then calculated unnecesary roughness ought to start at two games or more.

And TOTALLY premeditated. At least an argument can be made for Alosi's getting carried away in his roll as part of the wall. Brayton? Uh, not so much.

Well, by a Jets fan, anyway. :bag: This should have been at least as big a fine & suspension as anything given to Alosi, although on significant difference is the Jets team issued the punishment for Alosi and the league dealt the punishment for Brayton.

What this really says to me is that NFL punishment is mostly doled out in direct relation to the media attention given to a particular play. If this was the Jets - Pats game, the BAL/PIT game, or any number of big name teams, the video of the incident would have been all over SportsCenter and the fine ( and probably suspension, too ) would have been much bigger. Visibility of the infractions plays a role in the size of the penalty, when it comes to the NFL.

Ha. It's just the point that coaches, much like teachers, are held to a different standard. I know they are all adults, too, though. Whatever, Alosi and Brayton are both turds.

But doesn't the NFL know that it comes up looking like an ### here? :lmao:
