Brazen Shoplifting and Looting Thread (1 Viewer)

she is a representative, not a senator.  one of 435, representing a very liberal district.
Sorry, yes representative...same really goes even for a Senator from NY...does not represent me in Tennessee.  I don't even feel very represented by the 2 we have currently.

Not one of the leaders...the leader of the party.  Millions upon millions of votes nation wide.

No...a senator does not represent all of the democrat voters across the country...she isn't getting votes from me, she does not represent me.

interesting - AOC only represents her constituents then ? He voting doesn't have broad impacts on every citizen in the USA?

so in that light you would say Biden is representing you ?

Biden is POTUS...he won a national election.  You can spin that how you want...but  no, AOC does not represent all voters.  No need to keep going back and forth on that...she does not represent me at all.

Can anybody post what the logic is behind all these liberal policies that like to put criminals back on the streets ASAP?

Is the hope that one day a light bulb will go off and they will just become good people?

if Trump represented the GOP because he was one of the leaders of it, then I think its fair to AOC represents the DNC and all its voters because she's a leader there
Politicians "represent" the people in a general sense.   That is a big difference between saying their thoughts are the thoughts of people in here or as a collective the people that voted for them.   That sentiment is what is thrown around here too much.

But she’s still the most influential on Team Blue, especially with millennials.

Which, of course, is funny and ironic since you guys dedicated a whole thread to defining Conservatives.

I mean, c'mon.  You had to know that when you submitted this post, no?  So, yes, I do get to define Democrats.  I callz 'em likes I seez 'em!
That thread seems to be conservatives defining themselves either in support of or against Trump.  At the moment, it appears the support of Trump is still there.  The whole reason the party put together censure of its own members.

Biden, Manchin, Sinema...people who actually have affected legislation and agendas.

What legislation has AOC gotten passed?   What agenda has she clearly affected on the left?
She will get a lot of the Bernie things passed if she hangs in there and the old guard leaves.  Do you think she’s a threat not to win her district?

She may...but that seems to point to what Im saying, her level of influence requires others to leave.

Wonder how much pushback there is from the police, knowing there is only so much they can do.
But I thought they were natural heroes?  Doing it for duty and honor and all that.  Pay shouldn’t be an issue, it’s a calling like being a nun.  You never hear nuns pushing back when their budgets get adjusted.  They just keep on doing Gods work.  Cops should do the same.

Can only do so much only to have the criminals no-cash bond out or charges never get filed.

It isn’t their job to prosecute.  That’s the second half of law and order.  You’d  think they have a sense of duty to this poor guy.  You do your job anyway even when you don’t like it, just like all the healthcare and food industry workers.  Cops constantly need to be told they are pretty,  I swear to God.  Just do the job.

The second half of the law isn’t the one taking the risk with their life either.  Why would you risk it if the second half doesn’t have your back.  Better yet, idiots like Newsome or Lightfoot in Chicago constantly scolding them in public.  What kind of message does that send to the police - and to the public?

Well in a functioning government I think we would have seen an attempt to hold a hearing in the Senate but we don’t have that.
It’s probably time that there is term limits on all of these clowns.  They can concentrate on their jobs vs partisan politics and lining their pockets at the expense of ours.

Go become a baker if public service isn’t your thing.  Why do police need to be treated with such kid gloves?  They are servants.  And they are compensating monetarily for their work.  They are the ones who try to make it more than that…like it’s a calling or whatever.  But truthfully cops seem to have to be coddled…a lot.  Just do your job.

Doesn’t the prosecutor get paid also?  How about the DA and judges?   I don’t think they are getting treated with kid gloves, especially in cities.   As a taxpayer I would be pissed if a career criminal robbed me because a prosecutor felt that his 10 previous crimes weren’t considered a threat.

They are paid to follow laws for sure.  If they don’t they should be relieved of their duties.

And that is where stats can be manipulated.  If  $950 shoplifting charges are dropped, are they really crimes?  The stats say no.  I don’t think we are safer as a nation today.

Maybe by the time they were called the robbery was over? Maybe they were dealing with 8 more of these. Maybe they are overwhelmed with all the other unprosecuted crimes that keep happening.
Maybe they were withholding their publicly funded services to teach the public a lesson.  We could speculate all day.

Why would we speculate all day? Why are we even talking about it? Why did you bring up this diversion from obviously bad public policies that are leading to massive increases in crime and helping to drive prices up for all of us. Why?

We need more prisons and better laws that put people in prisons for longer periods of time.  El Salvador is catching up.

I was simply asking why they took an hour to arrive.  You'd think they'd be right on it.  Do you think these smash an grabs is what runs prices up on gas and milk?

No but shoplifting as a whole does.  If it didn’t; there would be more stores in bad areas.

Agree with you about hows we treat out vets, its a shame.

Its a problem.  I’m not saying it isn’t.  In my mind rich people steal a lot more than poor people though.  And in huge amounts.

If there aren't enough jail cells to keep looters/shoplifters locked up then we need to build more jails.  I'm all for prison reform, if there are a lot of peaceful marijuana users in jail for example, I'm fine with letting them all out to make room for the crimes we have gotten way too soft on.  However, saying America locks up too many people is no excuse for letting criminals stay on the street, we need to figure out how to prevent people from turning to crime in the first place.  As far as I'm concerned, once you reach this level of behavior you should no longer have the right to participate in a free society.
