Breaking News - Terrell Owens Rushed to local hospital (2 Viewers)

With regard to the original poster, and someone else, I forget who exactly...First of all, please refer to Koya's sig. Secondly, we like to think we have a solid NFL forum here. Yes, there are tons who try to be funny too often. Those were the guys in the back of your Algebra class that didn't quite grasp the concept of "appropriate time and place". However, we try to hold our board up to a higher standard than the competition. If that means some hurt egos and cracked eggshells and some trampled on amendments, then so be it. I love my country and I say to hell with anyone that tries to piss in our pool, even if they weren't really trying to piss in our pool, or something like that.:OliverNorthPose:
Fantasy football is a form of entertainment and a way for some of us to get away and relax. Comparing it to formal education is a bit much. Maybe gym class is more appropriate. IMO, a sense of humor is good for this place... sometimes better than all the bs speculation people spout as facts.add: sense of humor <> tool factor

while I'd love to keep this going about, and only about TO, I need to say that as an admin you aren't representing FBG well at all. This last one pretty much covers you and you should be stating things like this more often. Telling someone to stop pissing in our pool isn't too inviting. When you have the "admin" or "staff" or "whatever" you're telling me that FBG are cold people. that makes me not want to join. just an FYI to the rest of the staff who, without a doubt, do a great job.
i always thought mods should be like umpires... the best ones did their jobs without being noticed or making a scene... the ones who made lousy calls and got all in the players' faces (as if anyone in attendance was there to see THEM) would end up ruining the game. just a thought
That is a great analogy.
A very good analogyI wonder how many umpires had other posters apologize on their behalf?

John Clayton is saying it is a reaction to the pain killers he is taking.
Here's my speculation, he was probably taking NSAIDs (Nonsteroid antiinflammatory drugs) such as Motrin, commonly prescribed for pain, which irritated the stomach lining and caused a bleed in the stomach. Then he throws up blood which results in an emergency ride to the ER where they place a NG tube and lavage the stomach to rid the stomach of the "toxic" blood. He'll be out of the hospital tomorrow having done nothing more than taking his prescribed medicine. This happens quite alot.Edited to make this sound like I speak English
WD is thinking along the same lines I am.He'll buy himself a look down there with a camera if this is the case though...
Hmmm. I'd doubt that short term use of NSAID's would result in gastric ulceration. If he has a history of peptic ulcer disease and was on long term NSAID therapy then this would be more likely.
Not to hijack, but standard of care for positive gastric lavage and severe stomach pain wouldn't include an EGD?
:lmao: Dude - T.O. IS the topic of the thread. All this other "mods shoulda/shouldn'ta" BS is the hijack

Yes, the whole way that was handled was weak (including, as you pointed out, having others apologize and then tell me to "move along"). But, we've probably hammered this to death at this point.

too bad people came here looking for TO news
Seriously, let's get back on topic. Just to get ot straight....TO had a bad reaction to his painkillers. He went to the hospital and got his stomach pumped. Does not sound too serious and he should be okay in a day or two. Does this sound about right?

First off, yes he would probably get an EGD tonight. And according to the one textbook I just looked at, there is an increased risk of gastric ulceration with use of NSAID after 1 week.

I wasn't debating that he's in line for a scope. That's definately going to happen.

Increased risk, sure. Still HIGHLY unlikely that short term use of non steroidals would result in an upper GI bleed. I wonder if in an attempt to get his injury right for this week he took a bit more than he should've?WD is thinking along the same lines I am.He'll buy himself a look down there with a camera if this is the case though...

Increased risk, sure. However I think it's highly unlikely that such short term use of NSAID's would result in an upper GI bleed. Unless he has a history of PUD. I wonder if in an attempt to get himself right for this weeks game, he took more than he should have?

It seems as the large majority of shark pool topics turn into "who can I make laugh and quote my remarks?" I've also noticed you're not funny unless you have a 4 digit member number or lower.

Good Night all.

Seriously WTF more do you want? Maybe a free subscription for you pain and suffering?
Here's one of those ### kissers that troll along here.
Yeah, sure sounds like one. And I don't see why Shick just can't give the man a simple apology. All his little buddy's already did. Why can't he?

Yes, that sounds about right. And with the way ESPN is going to over-hype this story, I'm approaching the T.O. owner first thing in the morning to see if I can get a deal.

Report: Owens in hospital

Earlier Tuesday coach Bill Parcells expressed optimism in Terrell Owens' possibly playing Sunday at Tennessee, but by nightfall Owens was in Baylor Medical Center for an undisclosed reason, KTVT-TV reported, citing unidentified sources.

According to the station, doctors were attempting to induce vomiting.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said late Tuesday night he was unaware of Owens' trip to the hospital, and Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and publicist, Kim Etheridge, could not be reached for comment.

Last week, according to Parcells, Owens had a reaction to the pain medicine he was given following surgery in which a plate was inserted into his right hand to stabilize a fractured fourth metacarpal. Parcells said Owens became ill and could not work out, but he was improved the next day.

On Tuesday, Owens did not speak with the media, but he appeared to be in good spirits.

He continued conditioning work on the side with associate trainer Britt Brown and caught passes. He was wearing gloves and had his ring and middle fingers on his right hand taped together.

Earlier Tuesday Parcells said Owens would practice some today and he had not ruled Owens out from playing Sunday at Tennessee. Owens was wearing a bone growth simulator Tuesday to help the healing process. According to Parcells, the swelling in Owens' hand had gone down, and the biggest challenge for Owens would be handling the pain of catching passes.

"I have to see him out there being a confident player," Parcells said. "I don't want him out there thinking about something. If it's going act as a deterrent, I don't want that because that would eventually hurt us. But if he can get to the point where it looks like he can function and he feels pretty good about it (then Parcells would play him).

"I'm talking to him every day, seeing how he's doing. We're moving forward. We have a lot of time between now and the game."

Allergic reaction - CONFIRMED

Owens suffers allergic reaction to medication

By By MAC ENGEL and CLARENCE E. HILL JR.

Star-Telegram Staff Writers

Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens suffered an allergic reaction to pain medication Tuesday night and was admitted to Baylor Medical Center, according to a team source.

Terrell Owens’ publicist, Kim Etheridge, said of the incident, “This is not serious.” The source said Owens’ status is unknown for Wednesday's practice and for the Cowboys’ game Sunday at the Tennessee Titans.

KTVT/Channel 11 reported that a fire rescue team took Owens to the hospital, reportedly to the emergency room to induce vomiting. Dallas police did not confirm nor deny any details. Calls to Owens’ agent were not returned.

Owens was on pain medication after he suffered a broken bone leading to his right ring finger in the Sept. 17 game against Washington. The next day, Owens had a plate screwed in to protect the bone so it could heal with no further risk of damage.

Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said Sept. 20, “the pain medicine made [Owens] ill.”

The original prognosis was that Owens would be out two to four weeks.

But after having the plate inserted into his hand, the question was whether Owens could withstand the pain of playing and catching passes with the plate.

Owens has not practiced with the team since the injury. He caught passes Tuesday on the side from teammate Sam Hurd, and Parcells said he thought Owens would join the team for practice Wednesday.

“Yeah, the swelling has gone down pretty good,” Parcells said. “He’s caught some balls and he ran a lot" Tuesday. "[Today] he’ll do something. We have a ways to go.”

And Parcells said there was a long time before Sunday.

“If he can get to the point where it looks like he can function and he feels pretty good about it. ... It’s just, can he withstand the pain of catching the ball? If he can withstand it, he can play.”

However, after Tuesday night’s developments, Owens’ status for the rest of the week is uncertain.

:lmao: TO has an allergic reaction, and the SP cannibalizes itself.

thought I was in the ffa for a sec... too many brews.

FYI, the 10 o'clock news broadcast on CBS11 in DFW is being repeated on air right now, in case anyone cares to look for the first breaking new report. I assume it came near the end of the broadcast.

I believe the video now online at http://cbs11tv.com/homepage that I posted earlier may be the follow up story that preempted the David Letterman broadcast.

love him or hate him, this thread proves that TO is the biggest name in football....hands down.

Allergic reaction to meds = 8 pages...done and done :lmao:
