Breaking news! Todd Heap sighting! (1 Viewer)

I didn't see any of the game.

Was Heap's performance a one-time thing?

Does it mean he's finally 100% healthy?

Does it mean Flacco is finally learning that he has a weapon in his tight end?

Does it simply mean that Houston wasn't posing a pass rush threat and Heap was finally able to get out into pass routes?

Does it mean that many fantasy owners will lose next week because Heap will have one catch for three yards?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

It means Mason got hurt and Heaps role changed. Mason returned but was not 100% and if I recall it was soon after Mason's injury that Heap came alive. If Mason is healthy enough to contribute I'm not optimistic of Heap's continued involvement in the passing game but it's possible that his performance was a good reminder to the coaching of staff of what he could do and they will incorporate him more.

I think this was probably the game dynasty owners have been waiting for so they can sell him and get some value before he really disappears.

I don't think Heap will ever be the consistent 4-10 catcher again but could return to a decent endzone threat with a performance like that regaining Flacco's confidence after really botching it early in the season...

As a dynasty owner who has a trade dealine of this Sunday I think he showed something too late in the year to get any value before my trade deadline. I guess I will have to hold and hope that Flacco who has had a string of really solid games now is starting to mature into the QB role and hopefully that means Heap can get decent numbers the rest of the way.

The local radio broadcast played some taped comments from Cam Cameron during the game concerning Heap's production so far. He basically said that it was simply that the other teams were concentrating so hard on taking Heap away, that it opened up other parts of the offense, so they were just content to exploit those openings. Because of the performance of the running game and the other parts of the passing game, he felt that Heap's opportunities were going to increase. It would have sounded like a bunch of coach speak had Heap not had a good game.

IMO if you're a dynasty owner selling Heap right now you're being very foolish. The overall opinion and value of Heap, even after yesterday's game, is WAY down. As Flacco mature's and the O line improves, Heap will return to being a viable TE1. He's still very young and has lots of time for the offense to grow around him, why would you sell now?

dropped him in my dynasty league this week  I'm sure I could pick him up again next week but I'm not going too....

Well first of all, it only takes one trade partner who still thinks Heap can be a top TE to make a deal and yesterday's result only cements the seller's case to that buyer. And for as talented as Heap is, he's been injured a lot and could fall off again at any moment. You can hope that he won't disappear before Flacco learns how to use more than one target, but I tend to think you're better off sending him to a believer and getting something with more stable value in return. That's just my preference, as someone who has waited too long on vets and ended up with damaged goods. And of course so many other variables can go into this like TE scoring, roster depth, etc.

Heh.

I noticed nfl.com was ripping on Heap in one of their start/sit articles. It bothered me enough that I considered starting him but still went with Owen Daniels.

oof

His playoff schedule looks pretty brutal. The other thing is are you confident that he makes it through a full game if you do start him.
