BREAKING - TYLER EIFERT ANKLE SURGERY (1 Viewer)

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Jim Owczarski reports Tyler Eifert is expected to miss three months following a "minimal procedure" on his ankle.

Eifert originally suffered the injury at the Pro Bowl. It was thought at the time he was just dealing with a sprain, but he is still having problems nearly four months removed from the initial injury. The three-month timetable means he will almost certainly miss the entire preseason, and it is not a given he will be ready for Week 1. Already set to see a monster target share before this news, A.J. Green could set a career-high in targets.

3 months isn't bad though at least

i agree though it always appears to be something with this guy
Interesting, I had the complete opposite reaction. 3 months recovery time for a "minimal procedure" on the ankle? Jalen Ramsey has a 6 week time frame on a minimal knee injury on which he's already had microfracture surgery. 3 months seems like a long time to recover for what they thought was a simple sprain that hasn't gone away in 4 months.

is it time to give up?
It's time to give up the pro-bowl. It's an abomination of a game at best. Let these guys play a Madden tournament with fans for charity or something. End the madness now before some unfortunate QB gets hurt playing in this farcical exhibition and it puts a season in jeapordy for a franchise.

I still can't believe Robert Edwards had his career wrecked by the dog-and-pony show that is the pro-bowl weekend.

I've been saying this for years.  Why doesn't the NFL change to a skills competition?  Would be so much better for the players and fans, not to mention the NFL could milk a full weekend out of it, not just one game/day. I just seems so obvious.

Maybe a skills competition for rookies could be fun, especially if they can measure their results vs the results of previous draft classes. Rookies are still trying to build their brand, etc. I just don't see the point of vets going through this charade every year. Also don't blame all the great players that pull out of this mess..... which means the Pro-Bowl doesn't even mean anything anymore. It's become the Above-Average-Bowl..... or Too-Cheap-To-Pay-My-Family-To-Hawaii-On-My-Own-Dime-Bowl.

It's worth remembering in the case of Edwards he was a rookie and playing in a sand volleyball game I believe when he got hurt. If it's throwing the ball far and accurate, or proving your the fastest rookie in the league(maybe in pads like they should do at the combine)..... then it makes sense. I don't think they should be doing battle of the network stars type stuff though.

I was thinking mainly how fun it would be to watch a QB competition.  Throwing for distance, accuracy, hitting moving targets etc...  WRs could catch from he jug machine, with obstacles (defenders).  Maybe an obstacle course for RBs.  All non-contact type stuff.

This. I have been saying this for years as well. I have zero interest in watching the pro bowl but I would definitely watch a skills competition.

Yeah, but you're gonna feel really silly if Reed breaks his femur today.

Amirite?!
Well, that wouldn't fit with his current injury history, so this is kind of a random post, but yeah that would suck.

He's had soft tissue injuries (which are usually attributed to not enough conditioning) and concussions.  Could potentially shorten his career if the concussions keep happening, but hopefully since he signed a huge contract he'll work to keep himself in better shape and not have so many soft tissue injuries.
