Brett Favre Interception Article (1 Viewer)

Its more the length of time he has played and rule changes than how many he's thrown. QBs that were worse:

Bradshaw

Sammy Buagh

Namath

Unitas

Jurgensen

Tarkenton

Bob Greise

for every 300 passes in their careers, Favre threw one more interception than Aikman, Marino and Elway.

Favre Interception Article

The old guys played in a completely different era (where it was the norm to throw more INTs than TDs). But the comparisons to Aikman/Marino/Elway were compelling.

Well written article that does a good job of distinguishing why "eras" are so hard to compare, yet he finds one of the keys in trying to compare them.

I do know that as a Packer fan, 75 or more of those 400+ TD throws over the years, were of the Jaw-dropping variety. Probably 30-40 were throws that only a few guys who've ever payed QB could have made ... and most wouldn't have even tried. From an entertainment/excitement viewpoint, Favre is the the single most exciting player our franchise has ever seen. He also may be the flat-out Best player as well, but I think Reggie and a few others have valid arguments. Look at what Don Hutson did in his "era".

When Favre came on the scene, what our franchise needed most was HOPE. Hope was his middle name and it rubbed off on the players as well as the fans.

PS: 20-30 of those INTs have been pretty spectacular as well.
