Brian Calhoun (1 Viewer)

I've seen some small discussions in other threads about him, but nothing definitive. Basically is this guy worth owning in a deep dynasty league.

More importantly, does he stand a chance to get good amount of touches this year for any reason injury or otherwise?

Is Detroit backfield just too full?

I think a lot depends on KJ's return. If he is healthy then things are definetely crowded with KJ, Tatum, Calhoun and even Duckett. By crowded, I mean at the backup RB spot b/c KJ will obviously be the man. If KJ re-injures himself from trying to come back to soon, then perhaps Calhoun becomes the primary given Martz's reported displeasure with Bell's inability to catch a ball out of the backfield and the tendency to put it on the carpet.

:moneybag: I know there were reports last year that Calhoun had fallen out of favor with Martz, but he seems to have climbed out of the doghouse. In particular, he did some nice things late in the preseason which prompted compliments from Marinelli/Martz. Calhoun led the Lions with a meager 5/22 last week but Bell certainly did not solidify his status with a 9/14 performance [against an admittedly tough run D]. Bottom line I continue to hold Calhoun under the thinking that his run/catch abilities are a nice fit for the Martz system, and he will only improve as he further recovers from last season's ACL. I wasn't even expecting to see him on the field at this point just 10-11 months removed from injury. Definitely a 'hold' dynasty player.

I tried to pick him up this week on the cheap but another owner scooped him up for more money. Tatum apparently needs some motivation as he appears to have hands of stone. Calhoun will start to take more time on the field and will eventually be the 3rd down/backup behind Jones IMO.
