Think he be ok as a RB 2 for next 3 weeks?

Last update saw on SJAX is:

Rams | Jackson to need 2-3 weeks to heal

KFFL has learned St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (groin) will need two to three weeks to heal from his groin injury.

I was just never too impressed with Jackson the first three weeks, so I am pessimistic about Leonard. The line is dessimated, the QB is banged up. I think the season is over for STL.

i agree. i was able to get him off the wire ( i own jackson) but am not playing him yet.

I needed a RB bad due to McAllister out for season, had no choice (all bad RB's I got besides SJAX) Leonard or Stecker on Saints but Saints on bye this week had no choice. TY for reply, guess I messed up again!

But what about Dominic Rhodes :blackdot: In PPR Leonard will do fine as a RB2

I think they are going to throw to him alot (like they should have been doing with jackson), ppr he should be pretty good.

I don't think they really have anyone else to take carries from him do they? seems like a good pickup for jackson owners.

problem is, jackson is ranked 27 among rbs after three weeks in my league. matching this production is not so great. :homer:so unless the problem is really jackson and not the system, line or coaching, it is hard to get excited about leonard.

Leonard has 6 receptions through 3 weeks as the BACKUP RB. The sky is the limit for this guy. Jackson is going to be out a long time IMO, and Brian Leonard value is going to skyrocket after he has a good game this weekend and the true extent of Jackson's injury is revealed to the public. Maybe "revealed" is the wrong word here, more like "realized" or "observed". Torn groins do not go away in a couple of weeks.

Yes, he's that good. Next question?

I'm debating this myself this week in one league... I'd have to promote from my taxi squad, which is a one-way street. I'm torn - on one hand I think he might be serviceable, but on the other hand it really depends on what the "cost" will be to play him (i.e., in my case, promoting and losing the taxi squad status, or in other people's cases it's how much to bid on him, etc). He might be worth a gamble as a starting RB, but I guess it really depends on what your other options are.

Who needs blocking when you can hurdle them?

Since when has Bulger needed blocking? He gets beat up every year.

I'll probably start him at Flex in place of Ahman Green, although I could go with Sammy Morris instead. It's a PPR league, so I can easily see him catching 4-6 passes.

I've tempered my expectations, if he were to get playing time, but 14-50, 4-30 and maybe a TD seem very realistic. Not top RB numbers, but serviceable.

Even tho I have SJAX and now Leonard was considering Stecker on Saints..but got Leonard. I think what you stated is correct, but have no choice now, have to go with what I have.

Leonard's going to play QB, too? This guy's awesome.

Wow, i really wish FBG had a separate forum for bad jokes, and the threads could stay true to their topics.

:goodposting: I don't understand where this thread is going.

Steven Jackson on Steven Jackson: "I will be back."

Keep in mind, Brian is still a rookie. He's talented, and I think he's going to have a huge game against Dallas, but if there's even one little thing that I can tell him while we're watching some tape -- maybe if it only results in an extra yard for him -- I'm giving it. We're banged up and we need a win. Remember when I told you last week how I thought Marc Bulger was gutsy in that Week 2 game? Turns out he was playing with broken ribs. That's gutsy, man. Broken ribs, and he's acting like nothing's wrong.

So, yeah, I'm really down about not being able to play this week. Believe me, if I could, I would. I hope all you "handcuffers" went out and got Brian, though. Even if you don't have me on your team, you should still get him. And then maybe trade for me while you're at it ... I'm going to be back, and I'm going to do everything in my power to get this team back on the right side of .500. For this week, though, since I am forced to stand on the sideline and watch, my job has gone from "run and catch" to "get well and teach." So consider Brian the Man With Two Brains against the Cowboys. He's got his in there, and he's got me in there with him.

Didnt get to see much of this game today. Would love to hear how Leonard looked out there on this mess of an offense.

If Leonard is going to get 3 weeks as starting RB, this was clearly his most difficult week. He looks to be a good start next week against Arizona. Baltimore isn't the stout defense it once was. I could see him getting 110 total yards and a TD in that game.

Bulger going 11-24 for 114 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT (Frerotte was 3-6 for 29 yards) didn't help. He (or whoever plays QB) needs to do much better if STL is going to do anything in the coming games. DAL is good, though, so an improvement is not out of the question.
