Brian Westbrook v. Warrick Dunn (1 Viewer)

Both are undersized, elusive RBs that are prone to injury. Both look great right now.

Westbrook has shown an ability to score more TDs in the Eagles offense than Dunn, but I like the Falcons Defense better than the Eagles so that should help Dunn.

Who do people like more? And how much of a difference is there between the two?

Absolutely Dunn. As an Eagles homer, there has been talk that Reid thought that maybe he gave Westbrook too many touches last week, and will dial it back a notch in the future, and probably expand Buckhalter's role. Buck looked real ordinary to me in the preseason despite his numbers, but I was very pleased as an Eagles fan in what he did against Houston. He looked explosive when I was watching the game at Reliant, and I watched the replay and saw the same thing. He was clearly more effective between the tackles and with the way our interior offensive line will blow people off the LOS, I think Buck is going to be a huge part of the offense this year.

Dunn is going to get his 22-28 carries a game, which is about 10-15% more than Westbrook will at the least. Plus he's probably going to get goal line carries, as he doesn't have anyone like Buck behind him.

I'd much rather have Dunn on my fantasy teams than Westbrook.

I'll take Westy, PPR or not. He is one of the most explosive players in football and can go to the HOUSE at any time. He's the centerpiece of that offense and I can't imagine Reid cutting down on his touches.

Dunn is getting up there in age and may lose a step or two as the season wears on. He's also got Norwood, who seems more than capable of taking some of the load off.

Westy may have scored more in the past, but Duckett is gone. I've got to give the nod to Dunn. You can't completely dismiss Norwood, because the kids got talent, but for now, you've got to say Dunns got more value.

I was offered McGahee for either Westbrook or Dunn. I sent Dunn packing.
Why on earth would you take you McGahee over Westbrook or Dunn? You sir, have been had. Both Westbrook and Dunn will put up better numbers than McGahee this season, and you can bank on that.

Well first off, I wouldn't have traded Westbrook for McGahee.

I agree that Dunn will likely put up more points over the course of the season than McGahee, but Dunn was my first RB off the bench, not one of my starters (the same will be true for McGahee) and I'm building for the playoffs. I decided I'd rather have McGahee against Miami and Tennessee in Weeks 15 & 16 than Dunn against Dallas and Carolina.

Not to knock Dunn, who's a good RB, but I know I have a bona fide playoff team with him or with McGahee, so I don't mind shipping him off now for a matchup I like better in the playoffs down the road.

Uhh, Carolina is worst in the league against the run right now :D I know, they won't be when it's all said and done, but my point is it's kind of hard to tell this early on nwho the really tough run defenses are.. I think Miami is definitely in the same class as Dallas and Carolina versus the run -- but I agree, Tennessee should be a cake-walk...I guess if you have Dunn and McGahee ranked pretty close it's worth it...

No Dunn owners worried about Norwood's presence ?
I don't think Norwood is any more of a concern than TJ Duckett was last year nor is he any more of a concern than Buckhalter is to Westbrook.

you see I have both Westy and Dunn... yet the Norwood/Dunn situation worries me a lot more than the Westy/Buck one. But I'm really over analyzing the situations since I'm so deep at RB's (one of T Jones or Dunn seem to be the odd men out) in trying to predict who will bring the most value now relative to their fantasy production.

I don't know why the Norwood/Dunn situation would worry you any more than the Buckhalter/Westbrook situation. Setting aside the injury scenario, both RBs will share some of the load with their backup. But in the case of Dunn, the guy just got 30 carries in a game. I don't think he'll get that load in every game, but it wasn't like Norwood got a ton of a carries. I think Norwood will get about 30% of the carries and Dunn will get 70%. And it's good for Dunn to get some relief from Norwood so he can stay fresh.Norwood would worry me a lot more if he were a bigger, bruising RB. But he's a small-ish RB just like Dunn.
