Brian Westbrook's injury may be more serious than first thought (1 Viewer)

There were reports coming out of Phily that Brian Westbrook may have a torn abdomen. The Eagles have denied this story, but other stories coming out of Phily claim that Westbrook may be more banged up than first thought.

Andy Reid's tone was very measured in talking about Westbrook's health going forward. Reid refused to set a timetable for Westbrook's return.

As a Westbrook owner (in one league) I having a gut feeling this could be bad.

I have a feeling he's going to be out for awhile and if the Eagles keep playing like they are there will be no need to rush him back. This really is a downer on my team; I wish I knew 100% what the diagnosis was and when his return will be. I guess in the meantime Buckhalter will have to do.

what? If the eagles continue to play the way they did against the giants, there IS a need to rush him back!!!

I don't think this says anything really. This is sort of a waste. Now people are reading into his tone what a joke. Earlier I read he was close to playing now because of Andy Reid's tone he is out for a while. Lets wait and see but lets not overreact until we have solid info.

Where's the fun in that?FN REID YOU POS AND WESTBROOK YOU FRIGGIN PANSY #$^@

I am starting to think that there is no source of good info on injuries anymore. A guy has two weeks to recover or not recover and a reporter is asking the coach if the guy is going to play now. Maybe we should also ask him what Microsoft will close at tommorrow.

Wow, with this new info, I'm SURE Westy won't be playing this week!

I am sort of sensing a negative tone. This must mean Westbrook will need to be in a wheel chair for a few years.

Hope this aint too serious because I just traded for him...T.Jones, Fred Taylor, Megatron and Leinert for

Big Ben, Westy, Maroney and Cochery.

I think with FWP and ADP already in the stable I did ok---as long as he comes back in a reasonable amount of time.

Not sure how to interpret "tone" in coachspeak either.

Ahh Blow...It fit in just fine with the earlier dancing pickle. Sorry to disrupt the 1:46 AM EST injury update

Looking at the Eagles schedule, there's only a couple good matchups in the next several week so Buckhalter seems to have little upside on a WW pickup unless you're desperate.

Who pissed in your cheerios this morning? If you don't like the information then ignore it and go whine in the Free For All. There's nothing wrong with letting the rest of us know where a guy's real life fantasy value sits.

Not to hijack or anything but I don't understand how year after year people are high on Westbrook when all he does is cause constant headaches with his inability to stay in the starting line-up consistently. When healthy, yes he can be a beast but for my first pick give me someone who can stay on the field. If Fred Taylor had a nickname (fragile) than Westbrook needs one....

How about:

1. Bushwacked Brian Westbrook

2. Wobbly Westbrook

3. Barring Injury Brian Westbrook

Isn't a strain a slight tear?

Could have something to do with ending the season as a top 5 RB and all. You want to stick with the guy that is available every week but mediocre go ahead. Good enough to lose is the worst thing you can be in FF.

Finishing top 5 means nothing during the weeks of the playoffs or vs your current league leader when Westbrook is out with a lets see here:

knee

groin

abdominal strain

elbow

finger

pinky toe

batted eyelash....

Look at his numbers last year weeks 14-16, I will take it.

He missed one game last year and finished top five. Keep on avoiding him because of a flawed perception.

You mean someone like Rudi Johnson?

Wasn't last season the first season Westbrook played all 16 games? Wait, he didn't even make 16 games last season, he hasn't lasted an entire season in his entire career. I've always wondered why people had him ranked so high. Sure he gets great PPG, but when that's only 75% of your season, it doesn't matter.

But he missed 4 in '05, 3 in '04, 1 on '03, and 1 in '02.... not exactly a picture of durability, and only a matter of time until he misses more that 3...

And he still consistently puts up good numbers. If you draft Westbrook, you definitely don't put all your eggs in one basket, because that will backfire for you. You play him when he plays, and reap the benefits. You have to hedge your bets a little though, and grab his handcuff, or stock your team with RBs. Personally I did both the last two years, and have loved every minute of owning Westbrook. Know what to expect, and you will not be disappointed.

If you have a decent backup who wouldn't want a top 5 back? On a PPG basis Westbrook is a stud and as long as he's there for 75% of the season (which he has) it should help set up the owners who drafted him. It sucks that he has missed some games in the past but I'd much rather take a shot on Westbrook than some of the others who were drafted in roughly the same area (Rudi, Henry, MaGahee, Portis, Bush) who all seem to have their own issues.

I heard a rumor (what else is new) that Westy could miss 8 weeks with this ab thing...anyone hear something like this?

OK, where'd you hear it? Who said it? Are you just tired of the Henry crap? Are you hoping for the same ultimate results that the initial Henry rumor initiated?Personally, I'd love the drama, but me thinks you're just trying to start it, perhaps?

Agree. Say where you. heard it please. We have enough hearsay and conjecture as it is. Imaging rumors is the worst..

A guy I work with is from Philly and he said that this report that came out has some truth to it and Westbrook's abs are really messed up... Although Ried denied it, it might be bad. He also said Westbrooks injury is part of the reason Ried might step down during the season.

I have no doubt my co worker did hear this, or some version of this, just because I dont see any reason for him to make it up. But I'll take it from your reaction that he was just pulling my leg or mis-informed

I only brought it up because I wanted to see what info is out there....what is the latest then?

Do you own Westbrook and is he trying to trade you for him?

Well we know where Westy stands now up against LT, LJ, Gore and SJackson; so far so good vs those other top backs. We'll have to check his stats vs these guys at other points in the season. My guess is he is going to look pretty good when it's all said and done.

Please stop lying. Nobody in Philly has said any such thing.
