Brian Westbrook's status next season? (1 Viewer)

Anyone have any conjecture as to Brian Westbrook's status with the Eagles next season? I know it's too early to know for sure, but the value of LeSean McCoy in keeper leagues (as the trade deadline for this season draws closer) is dependent on whether Westbrook is with the team next season. Thoughts?

I think he's done. But that's me. His numbers have been dwindling since the end of last year. He's going to be over 30 and he has a history of injuries. I think that with most players, there is a step between greatness and goodness. I think Westbrook has lost that step.

Ok, how about this year????Trying to decide whether to continue dedicating a roster spot to McCoy.

Is Westy coming back?

Agreed. Besides his knees and ankles, one more concussion and he'll announce his retirement. Glass half-full...well, one sip left. :goodposting:

ESPN's Matt Mosley speculates that this could be Brian Westbrook's final season in Philadelphia.

Mosley isn't the first one to wonder this. Westbrook is 30 and his cap number next season is $10.59 million. The Eagles have a history of cutting veterans as they age, a list that includes Brian Dawkins, Jeremiah Trotter (the first time), Duce Staley, Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent. Rookie LeSean McCoy has proven this season that he can handle the load. We would be a little surprised, but not shocked at all if Westbrook is let go after this season

what is the cap hit if he's cut?

Should Westy call it quits, is the consensus that McCoy can get 'er done next year?

:porked:

Next year = no cap.

hes more done than LT
Ummm... no. He is averaging 4.8 YPC. He has looked decent. The team is not forcing it to him. They are protecting him for Jan. One more knee injury and he will retire. That is a given. But he can still contribute to an NFL team. Maybe not a fantasy team, but definitely to an NFL team. LT is almost to the point where he is detrimental to SD's hopes of winning games. The Eagles don't look any better when McCoy is in there.

I think he could be back at a reduced salary & time share with McCoy [who IMO will never be a bellcow either.....I really question his ability to run between the tackles [every bit as much as Reggie Bush]].

I actually think Leonard Weaver should be used a bit more.
