According to week 6 Gamebook Brian Williams started at LCB not SS. P.Prioleau started at SS. Thought maybe it was due to a injury but the former starter(s) at LCB came off the bench in week 6. Any Insight on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't have the specifics but I remember reading recently that the starting LCB for JAX was injured and that they would be moving Williams to that spot in the mean time.
Williams was moved to cornerback with Drayton Florence injured a couple of weeks ago when Will James struggled. Florence played some last week, but Williams was still used as a slot corner. That may have been a corner depth issue again or it may have been a feeling that Prioleau and Sensabaugh at safety were good enough to use Williams as the third corner. Things could change when Reggie Nelson returns or if the Jags consider Florence healthier this week.
It looked to me like Drayton Florence was benched and Brian Williams moved back to corner opposite Mathis. I didn't notice who they brought in for the nickel. Nelson and Sensabaugh were at safety. They played a lot of two deep safety and usually when they went to single safety back it was Nelson playing centerfield or more of a free safety
The Jaguars have moved Brian Williams from safety back to right cornerback, replacing Drayton Florence.
Quietly, Florence has been one of the bigger free agent blunders of the '08 offseason. The only reason it hasn't been more documented is because he wasn't even the biggest bust on his own team (Jerry Porter was). Gerald Sensabaugh is now the strong safety and Florence is a sub-package CB.

Williams probably loses 1-2 solos a game with the move -- similar to what we've seen over the past three weeks and last season. Whether that kills his value depends on what your scoring system does with passes defensed and interceptions. If they're at least equal to solos, Williams is a solid enough run supporter that he'll still have value. The 5+ solo average week is very likely gone.
