Bring back Marvin Harrison to Colts (1 Viewer)

With A. Gonzo out for a few weeks should the Colts try and make a run at their old friend Marvin Harrison? He is currently jobless and I am not sure if he is even willing to play, but this has to be going through Colt's fan's heads.

It would make sense if he were not washed up and waaaay past his prime. He's not good anymore. Father time catches up to everyone eventually.

I assume that if someone is a Colts fan, then he/she watched the Colts last season. If so, I think most will say the same thing: he's not good enough anymore. I'd rather see the kids (Garcon and Collie) play.

I completly agree that long term value Haskett is worth more. However with all the years between Manning and Harrison, I feel like he can contribute this year much more then Haskett can. He is one of the most prolific WRs in NFL history, he can at least serve as a 3rd down specialist.

MumboJumbo, because you are being so obvious about it, I refuse to click on your blog on sheer principle alone.

I don't think I can stand watching that 2 yard out then watch Marvin dive to the turf. I'd much rather watch Garcon and Collie, and I love what Marvin did for Indy.

1. He wants too much money.

2. The Colts took a cap hit to release him, they arent going to jump in line to pay more to get him back.

3. The fond memories folks have of his play are just that, memories. That is not the Marvin Harrison that is out there today.

My loyalty is to Marvin as he has served me so well on my fantasy teams through out the years. I have to believe at the least he can still catch the ball and be a good 3rd down guy.

I'm with Aardvarks. Look, I know you want to pimp your blog, but you don't need to go around starting questionable threads just to promote the thing.

Jerry Rice is the greatest wr of all time. Should we bring him back because of that? Or should we realize just because he USED to be good doesn't mean he's still able to play in the NFL? Marvin is finished. He may know where he needs to go and what he needs to do better than anyone else on that team but his body just can't do it anymore.

Isaac Bruce and Harrison are the same age. Wonder why Bruce is still producing well in the league while Harrison is washed up.

People age differently. :banned:
Ya apparently. I always thought Harrison was one of the most in shape players in the league. Go figure....

An athlete can be in great football shape capable of benching 220 lbs. But it won't mean anything if their knee is gimpy. Harrison was not the same player when he came back from injury. He was in great shape yes, but the knees could not hold up.

He was but he has battled balky knees for the past two seasons (probably longer though we didn't hear about it).I hate to say it, because I always liked the way he played, but I think he just may not be able to physically compete at the NFL level any longer.

All those TastyCakes finally took their toll on his body.
Trigger finger ruined his hands.

I don't think it is a matter of him not being able to contribute. He is just unwilling to take less money as the Colts did initially give him a contract offer that he was not willing to accept.

I think it's extremely naive to think that Harrison's off field problems have not effected his value to NFL teams.

Wasn't he exonerated? It's not like he's been a guy with off the field issues in the past. He's been a model citizen througout his career. I think it's the knee, or he won't take less $$$.

The DA decided not to prosecute, yes. But the facts still remain that Marvin fought the guy, somehow someone got Marvin's gun and used it to shoot 2 people and narrowly miss others, somehow the gun was hidden in Marvin's car wash, Marvin made made false or misleading statements to the police and Marvin nor anyone of his friends or employees have any idea how anyone got his gun, used it and hid it in Marvin's car wash. None of that means that Marvin did it, but it means there was something going on there. And Marvin did have off the field issues before the Philly shooting. People just pretty much ignored them or forgot about them.

As a Dolphin fan, I would love for us to bring him in. We have so little depth he could definitly contribute. Also, like the Colts we have a ton of young WRs that could learn from him (how to avoid being prosecuted and how to run routes)
